into the car.

headphones for them.

7. One thing you don’t want
when you are stuck in the car
for long periods of time –
restless kids. Avoid snacks and
drinks with high amounts of
sugar or caffeine. Before
hitting the road, make a bag of
healthy snacks for everyone in
the car to share – peanut butter
celery sticks, low-fat cheese
and crackers, or lettuce wraps
with lunchmeat are all great
options and kid favorites.

8. Car games can keep everyone from being
bored. Play the games you played when
you were a kid or go online and find new
games that can become a family tradition.
Classic road trip games include Slug-a-Bug,
I Spy, and 20 Questions.

9. Pillows, and blankets can be lifesavers. The more comfortable
your children are the less likely they are to be upset or grumpy.
Bathroom breaks around the two-hour mark can also allow
everyone to stretch his or her legs. Have the kids run around for
a couple minutes, so that they can settle in for more car time.
