4. INTRODUCTION
Human beings are most
evolved showing well marked
sexual dimorphism. Puberty is the
maturity age marked by separate
male or female secondary sex
characters due to secretion of
respective sex hormones by
gonads.
5. REPRODUCTION
It is the life process
of production of new
and alike offspring(s)
by parents.
7. PARTS OF HUMAN MALE
REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
Primary Sex Organs – a
pair of Testes
Secondary Sex Organs –
Vasa efferentia to Penis.
Accessory Glands – 03
types
9. NAMES OF PARTS cont….
Vas deferens / doctus deferens
Ejaculatory ducts
Urethra
Penis
Accessory Glands
Seminal vesicles
Prostate
Bulbourethral / Cowper’s

Conclusion (Coitus)
11. SCROTUM
It is a skin pouch, outside
abdomen hanging between
thighs. It contains testes.
It has 20 C less
temperature than normal
body temperature to favor
spermatogenesis.
12. SCROTUM extra …..
In embryo, testes develop
inside abdomen.
By birth time, they descend
into scrotum through
INGUINAL CANAL.
If descend fails, it is, called
CRYPTORCHIDISM.
13. SCROTUM extra …..
Inguinal canals sealed after
descend of testes.
If sealing fails, it is
INGUINAL HERNIA.
Testes are positioned by
INGUINAL CORDS or
SPERMATIC CORDS.
14. TESTIS / TESTES
One pair of oval testes are
present in male.
Each measures 4 to 5 cm in
length, 2 to 3 cm in width
and 10 to 15 g in weight.
Testis is covered by a layer
of fibrous connective tissue
15. TESTIS / TESTES cont…
called TUNICAALBUGINEA.
Tunica albuginea extend
inward to form septa. It
divide each testis into
about 200 conical lobules.
16. TESTIS / TESTES cont…
Each lobule contains 1, 2
or 3 long and coiled
SEMINIFEROUS TUBULES.
Seminiferous tubules are
internally lined by
GERMINAL EPITHELIUM.
Its cells produce sperms.
17. TESTIS / TESTES cont…
Among germ cells some
larger, nutritive cells called
SERTOLI CELLS are
present to provide
nutrition to various stages
of spermatogenesis.
18. TESTIS / TESTES cont…
In between seminiferous
tubules, INTERSTITIAL
or LEYDIG CELLS are
present secreting male sex
hormone TESTOSTERON
or ANDROGEN guiding
secondary male characters.
19. TESTIS / TESTES cont…
All seminiferous tubules of
a testis unite at posterior
part of testis to form a
network called RETE
TESTIS.
20. TESTIS / TESTES cont…
FUNCTIONS
It secrete testosteron.
It forms spermatozoa.
Testosteron stimulate
spermatogenesis and
secondary male
characters.
21. VASA EFFERENTIA
From rete testis, about 15
to 20 slender tubes called
vasa efferentia originate
and unite into VAS
DEFERENS.
22. EPIDIDYMES
A tube of about 6 m length,
partly encircle posterior
part of testis called
EPIDISYMES. Together
with testis it form
TESTICLE.
23. EPIDIDYMES cont…..
It has three parts
Capute – proximal part
Corpus – middle part
Cauda – last part
Cauda epididymis is
attached to scrotum by
GUBERNACULUM.
24. EPIDIDYMES cont…..
FUNCTIONS
It pass sperms from
testes to vas deferens.
It temporarily stores
sperms, they mature
here.
It forms part of semen.
25. VAS DEFERENS
It is a muscular tube from
lower end of cauda epididymes
& enter abdomen through
inguinal canal.
It swells into AMPULLA, and
join duct of seminal vesicle of
own side.
It pass sperms for ejaculation.
26. EJACULATORY DUCTS
It is a short duct by union of
vas deferens and duct of
seminal vesicle.
Both side ducts unite, enter
into prostate and finally open
into urethra.
It carry semen into urethra.
27. PENIS
It is a cylindrical copulatory
organ of male to deposit
sperm into female vagina.
It is made of erectile tissues
as two cylindrical CORPORA
CAVERNOSA & one
CORPUS SPONGIOSUM.
29. SEMINAL VESICLES
These are a pair of convoluted
pouches behind urinary
bladder.
They secrete a viscous,
yellowish and nutritive fluid.
It has fructose, vitamins,
mucus and prostaglandins.
It forms much of semen.
30. PROSTATE GLAND
It is a hard gland below
urinary bladder.
Urethra pass through its
central hole.
It secrete a thin, milky white,
alkaline fluid to nutralize
acidity of semen, urethra and
vagina and increase survival
31. PROSTATE GLAND cont.
of sperms and chance of
fertilisation and increase
sperm motility.
Enlargement of prostate in old
age press urethra and make
urination difficult. It is called
as PROSTITIS.
32. BULBOURETHRAL or
COWPERS GLANDS
They are a pair of pea sized
glands below prostate.
It secretes fluid similar to that
of prostate.
It lubricate vagina in coitus.
38. SEMEN
It is a viscous alkaline (pH = 7.5)
fluid containing spermatozoa and
secretions of epididymes, seminal
vesicles, prostate and bulbourethral
glands.
In each ejaculatiion, about 2 to 4 ml
of semen is discharged.
It contains about 200 to 350 millions
of sperms or 10 cror per ml of semen.
39. SEMEN cont….
About 60 % of semen is secretion of
seminal vescicles.
Men with less than 4 cror sperm per
ml of semen are sterile. It is less
sperm count and called
oligozoospermia. (Azoospermia = no
sperm in semen).
For normal fertilisation, about 60%
sperms must be of normal shape and
size and 40 % of them be vigorous.
40. SECONDARY MALE
SEX CHARACTER
These are the characters
develops in male at maturity.
They may be like :-
Mustache & beard
Body hairs
Hard voice etc.
41. CONCLUSION
During sexual intercourse
(COITUS), erect penis is inserted
into vagina of female mate. It
include a short period of intense
sexual excitement (ORGASM)
discharging about 2 to 4 ml of
semen into vagina for probable of
fertilisation & pregnancy.
