The French flag was adopted on February 15, 1794, five years after the French Revolution (1789). The flag consists of three vertical stripes in blue, white and red. These colors symbolize the French Revolution. The blue color represents the legislative power in France, the color white represents the executive branch and the red color represents the French nation. Since all three bands have the same size, it represents the division of power equally. The French tricolor flag also symbolizes the motto of the French Revolution "Liberty, Equality and Fraternity." Curiosity: Between 1814 and 1830, France has adopted an all-white flag. The official flag was restored to the July Revolution of 1830. Sara Gonçalves * Técnico de Informática 10
