Using Technology in the Classroom

4. BLOG!! As a teacher, you need to have open communication with your students parents. That is why using a blog is such a useful idea. Blogs are free to sign up for and you can customize them any way you like. A few things you could include on your blog: Student of the week Up coming events in the classroom Things happening school wide Reminders Up to date information
5. More Parent Contact Besides a blog, you can also use technology to help you stay in contact with your student’s parents in other ways. Examples: Newsletters made in Microsoft Word using a template Emails between you and parents A teacher website Fliers made in Microsoft word about upcoming events Notes home about fieldtrips, days off from school, or things needed for the classroom
6. Projects The internet is a great resource for projects in your classroom. Once they have found information, they can write a report in a word document or even make a powerpoint presentation Tips: Make sure to go over internet safety with your students Give them direction on where to find reliable information Put students in groups so they are able to assist each other with the technology Model for the students how to do good research
7. Teach Technology Through Class Instruction When using technology to improve your lessons, you can teach technology at the same time you teach another subject. When a student is able to see you demonstrate trouble-shooting, they are picking up how to use the technology while also learning the topic being taught. 8. Smart board/ Enoboard You can use these to incorporate technology into hands on learning. You can project educational games or trivia and have one student come up to answer the question.
