- Have worked at/been to 10 IH schools, 8 of them in the last 18 months. Show you the diversity of the network, and emphasise that we’re not a franchise!
- Teacher 2008-2011 First IH school 35 teachers, some full time, some part time, new/more experienced, 15 English natives, 3 other lang native, rest Czech – vibrant mix. 6 classrooms, teacher’s room. City centre. YL, adult, exams, in company Great training ground for new teachers – so much you can learn!
- Started in busiest week of year, and next week was busier! 300+ students in summer, down to 100 or so just before Christmas. Staff fluctuate too Diversity of SS – range of cultures, come and go all the time City-centre, 4 stories of a 5-storey listed building, cafe Take SS out
- Distance Delta orientation course – 2 weeks. Experienced trainers, fellow trainees from various countries Relatively new building, café, computer room, library – very well equipped Bustling, very busy! Similar to Newcastle. Holborn – Central Tube line. Near Covent Garden
- DoS in probably the most interesting year to be there New school – third academic year SS numbers increasing 80>110 – school growing Classes of 2-3 SS (one bigger class) Native English speaker = me (one other for first half of year), Belgian, Russians Self-contained school in an old prison with many offices just outside city centre
- Taught one cover class of YLs Spent time with the staff getting to know IH Sevastopol’s sister school Two floors in a bigger office building. 800 or so SS, mix of native and non-native speakers on staff. Teacher training, partnerships with government and local schools
- CELTA tutor Hotel district – business park International students – like Newcastle, long and short-term stays. More SS in summer, fewer in winter. CELTA courses Part of the Net-Pacific group of IH schools
- CELTA tutor on first course in new school premises In two parts in a mall just outside Chinatown Trainees from all over the world. Like Newcastle and San Diego in terms of ups and downs of SS numbers Also part of Net Pacific group
- CELTA tutor for 2 courses Newest member of IH network (as far as I know!), owned by IH Bangkok School finished a few months ago, running CELTA courses mostly. Accommodation being built at the moment! Rural area just south of the city – surrounded by paddy fields. Has its own water tower Can hear cockerels all the time – peaceful
- CELTA tutor Part of the IHLS group with IH schools in 6 countries, including Spain, South Africa and China Centre of Palma – Spanish and English departments, plus training. Lots of kids/teen classes and very involved in local area e.g. competitions
- Images from IH Bydgoszcz website. 25th birthday next year, 800 or so SS, 20 or so teachers – back to a similar place to IH Brno Training school for new (to IH) teachers. IH Torun is sister school Was there for a few days in January and will be starting there as the DoS in August – really looking forward to it!
