2. TOPIC OF THE PROJECT :
ENGINE BLOWER
OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE:
Our project “Design and Analysis” of Engine Blower is to demonstrate the working of engine
blower and to increase the overall efficiency of the device by supplying the compressed air in the
automobile engines and industries.
PROCESSDESCRIPTION:
A ENGINE BLOWER is a mechanical device for moving air or other gases. The terms
"centrifugal fan" and "squirrel cage fan" are frequently used as synonyms of engine blower.
These fans increase the speed of air stream with the rotating impeller.
When the engine works it rotate the crank shaft which in turn rotate the impeller. They use the
kinetic energy of the impellers or the rotating blade to increase the pressure of the air/gas stream
which in turn moves them against the resistance caused by ducts, dampers and other components.
Blowers accelerate air radially, changing the direction (typically by 90°) of the airflow. They
are sturdy, quiet, reliable, and capable of operating over a wide range of conditions.
Blower are constant displacement devices or constant volume devices, meaning that, at a
constant fan speed, a centrifugal fan will pump a constant volume of air rather than a constant
mass. This means that the air velocity in a system is fixed even though the mass flow rate
through the fan is not.
SOFTWARE TO BE USED:
SOLIDWORKS is a solid modelling computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided
engineering (CAE) computer program that runs on microsoft windows. SolidWorks is published
by Dassault system. SolidWorks is a solid modeller and utilizes a parametric feature based
approach to create models and assemblies . Parameters refer to constraints whose values
determine the shape or geometry of the model or assembly. Parameters can be either numeric
parameters, such as line lengths or circle diameters, or geometric parameters, such as tangent,
parallel, concentric, horizontal or vertical, etc. Numeric parameters can be associated with each
other through the use of relations, which allows them to capture design intent. It used among
other tasks for:
• DESIGN(parametric and direct solid/surface modelling)
• ENGINEERING ANALYSIS(static,dynamic,thermal)
3. APPLICATIONS:
• Uniform temperature equipments
• Textile Machines
• Hot air blowers
• Automobiles
• Cooling Machinery
• Grain Elevators
• Air compressors
CONCLUSION:
The main purpose of our project is how to increase the efficiency of different process used in
industries by making the use of engine blower.
