- UNFCCC requests that countries interested in REDD+ process should develop/construct or strengthen four main pillars, through a step-wise approach. Until very recently, most countries and supporting initiatives/projects have focused on readiness phase . In the past 10 years FAO worked strongly in the readiness phase, supporting countries focusing on two pillars: NFMS, FREL/FRL while also providing support and activities related to enabling environment (legal, tenure, safeguards).
