5 Reasons Why
People Change Jobs
Quitting your job and leaving your comfort zone for
the unknown is one of the most challenging and
stressful decisions you can ever make in your entire
career. You may have spent decades in your company
and have taken in all the daily routines, office culture,
policies, and the rituals from that organization yet as
hard as it is, you still need to make this hard decision.
Sometimes, there are instances during the stint of
your career that make it almost mandatory to change
jobs. You may realize that you are in a dead end
company or a dead end position and the only way
you can get through this phase is to look for another
job that offers better opportunities and a chance to
grow and advance your career.
We will help you find out when it is time to hand in
your 1 months’ notice. Look for signs such as the
following:
1. You are ready for a new job – you are not at
fault on this one because you have every right to
grow as a person and if that growth can be in the
form of a new job, then embrace it with all your heart.
People can want differing things during the course of
their lifetime, and sometimes career fulfillment can’t
be found in doing the same job for the rest of your
life.
2. You have a better offer – this needs a lot of
consideration because you also have to take a closer
look on the new company’s profile like how long have
they been operating, their policies, the working
hours, the job duties and responsibilities, just to
make sure that you are making the right choice.
3. Your job feels so wrong for you – just when
you thought you landed a job that will focus on how
you could use your skills for the company, you ended
up stuck on doing something that is not your forte.
Don’t get me wrong here, it is alright to learn
something new but if the ins and outs of your job are
not in line with who you are as a person, going to the
office will feel like going to a prison cell.
4. The office atmosphere is unfriendly –if you
work in an environment that you are not comfortable
with because probably you feel you are being bullied
and your colleagues are constantly giving you
discomfort after several attempts to clear the issue, it
is time to go.
5. Your whole life changed – suddenly you are
given tasks that include flying in different places or
moving to a different address. If they leave you with
no choice, then consider what you have at home. If
your family doesn’t approve of this idea and you
yourself are against it, then hand in your resignation
letter.
People can have different reasons why they change
jobs, and at the end of the day, it is still your life, who
knows better how to run it other than you. Just follow
your heart, and no matter how hard the decision is,
always think about the things that you are not willing
to tolerate and compromise.
Manage Your Time
Effectively
Part of being a good employee is practicing proper
time management. By doing so, it will help you
prioritize the most important things you need to do
first and even when you are bombarded with so
many tasks to perform such as staff meetings,
conference calls, sending emails or a simple signature
signing, you will still end up completing them.
Although it might drive you crazy, you will still go
home knowing you’ve done your best and has still
time to spare for your family.
There are different ways that can help you manage
your time effectively and make the most out of your
day:

1. Start your day right by waking up early,
eating what your wife made for breakfast and have
time to say goodbye to your kids before going to
work. Coming to work at least 30 minutes before
your schedule will make you have enough time for
coffee, clean your desk, check your e-mails, check
your schedule for the day including your lunchbreak
or just plan your day out according to your job
priorities. Start the day with the right focus.
2. Know things that are beyond your control –
set clear expectations and do your tasks right so you
don’t have to re-do them everytime
3. Avoid checking your blackberry every now
and then, if you have already established a goal and
priorities for the day, stick to them. Check your
emails on the scheduled time and follow your rules
accordingly.
4. Don’t be too available – finish your tasks first
before you offer some help to your colleagues.
Remember that each of you has a responsibility to
fulfill in the office, and entertaining them every time
will make you lose focus and will take your time off
from important task. Try to meet your deadlines first
and then help them.
5. Take your lunch on time – it helps to breathe,
taking your lunch will give you time to check on your
wife and kids, eat something, and relax. Maximize
your lunch hours by giving enough time for small
chats with colleagues to help them with their tasks.
6. Avoid gossips – do not stress yourself out and
spend more time in the office after working hours to
gossip about another employee. It is unprofessional
and a total waste of your time.
7. Once you are done with your task for the day,
check your emails and answer them, do callbacks
after listening to your voicemail and check your
agenda for tomorrow. If you have time, clean your
desk so you don’t have to it again tomorrow morning.
Managing your time effectively can help you make
things easier and smooth in the office without
compromising your family time. It will give you time
to review your work and check if you have done it in
good taste as well as meet deadlines and get you
ready for another day. It is a great career move that
everyone should practice at work. By doing this, your
employer will see that you are dependable and you
can work without supervision, giving you an edge
over other colleagues.
How to know whether
you should Change
Jobs
Is today the best time to switch employers? Has it
ever crossed your mind to just stick to your job and
make the best out of it despite of your struggles?
People have changed these days, and they like to
experiment on different things especially with their
jobs. It is not unusual how employees change jobs
from time to time to find out what’s really best for
them. However, if you are the type of person who is
after a long term career commitment and security,
changing jobs is not an option. There are different
ways to figure out if you need a job change.
1. You aim to climb up the executive ladder – if
you are looking for career advancement and your
company doesn’t show any signs of you climbing the
executive ladder after several years of hard work,
then it is just fair that you start looking for other
options.
2. You need a salary increase – most people
stick to their jobs because of their salary, and while
some are really staying because they love what they
do, there is no denying that big changes happen to us
such as starting a family. If think that your salary will
not be enough to sustain yourself and your new
family, you need to find a job that will.

3. You want to change your career – changing
your career means changing your job. It is however
not an overnight process because there are certain
considerations that still need to be done. And if this is
your goal, start planning your career change now.
4. You are constantly worn out and depleted - if
you feel that you are always anxious and stressed,
this is not a good sign. Stress is inevitable but if you
constantly experience headaches and work related
stress due to your work, then it should be a warning
that you need to find a job will not demand too much
time and work from you. Sometimes, your workload
is too much and the amount of time you are given is
not enough to finish the entire task. Imagine doing
this everyday for the rest of your working life.
5. You and your boss don’t get along – despite
your best efforts, you and your boss can’t seem to see
eye to eye. If your boss is someone you can’t trust and
doesn’t show you respect, there is no reason to hold
on to your job.
Changing Jobs can sometimes be the only way to
eliminate work related stress in your life. However, if
you feel like none of the 5 reasons we have discussed
is present in your job situation, yet you still want to
change jobs, assess yourself first because perhaps
you just need a few days off from work.
