Career objective
I would like to gain experience in the healthcare field in order to further my
skills and knowledge and to help enhance my nursing abilities so as to
provide a better holistic care in the future.
Employment history
Teacup Cottage, October 2013 – June 2015
In this role I am assisting with the movement, guidance and general activities of
disabled people. These activities are feeding, cleaning and the giving of
medication to the clients. I care for them and assist them in all daily needs.
Tucker Box, January 2013 – September 2013
Working part time, preparing the food, restocking and cleaning. Mainly work in
the back. Not much experience at the checkout.
Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen 2008 February – January 2013
I worked with this voluntary organization on a regular basis to gain work
experience, I assist with food services, cleaning, setting up for meals. I am
required to run small errands around town and help hand out free food to the
community within Nerang.
2. Clinical placement:
Mercy Aged Care (Emmaus), October 13th–31th 2013 (120 hours)
At this placement, I was required to assist with daily hygiene of residents. I
assisted in feeding, utilizing hoists and assisted in wound dressings for the
residents.
Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital, May 11th-29th 2015 (120 hours)
Geriatric Evaluation Management Unit
At this placement I performed wound dressings, giving of medication, general
care of the patient including; general hygiene of patients preparing patients for
meals. Getting patients ready for bed at night and dressed for the day in the
mornings. I helped in the overall care of patients including writing progress
notes and documenting any findings in the patients charts.
Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, January 11th- 29th
2016 (120 hours)
Child Youth and Adolescent Mental Health Unit
At this placement I performed learning about different psychological problems
that came into the ward. I used my skills in order to get to understand each
individual person in order to best know how they would like to be treated and
the way to communicate with them. As they were of differing ages from 7 to 19,
I had to change my approaches each time. I provided them with someone to talk
to and a person to do activities with.
