options based on their preferences, answer questions, provide tours of facilities
and memorial parks, assist them with the purchase of cemetery property and pre-planned
funeral arrangements, and offer appropriate funding alternatives. Deliver
deeds and policies to families and provide ongoing customer service.
Recreation Manager for Oquirrh Recreation and Parks District (dba: Kearns
Oquirrh Park Fitness Center), 1997 to 2013. Started with a struggling tennis
program, created more than twenty new programs, and ultimately managed a
department with more than forty employees and ten contractors serving more
than 100,000 program participants annually. Responsible for hiring and
evaluating employees, overseeing three supervisors, preparing budget and
payroll information, setting program fees, providing input on membership and
admission fees, scheduling facilities, training employees, writing and
implementing policies, holding staff meetings, purchasing supplies and
equipment, reporting to the Board of Trustees, advertising programs, writing grant
applications, and managing trustee elections. Earned CPRP certification in 2008.
Office Manager/Agent Consultant/Software Specialist for Financial Security
Concepts, 1993 to 1997. Worked with over two hundred agents, prepared
insurance illustrations, processed applications, maintained forms and supplies,
planned training, advertised events, loaded software on four office computers.

appropriate life and health insurance plans, oversaw underwriting process,
delivered policies, provided customer service.
Business Consultant, 1989. Helped organize the Utah Association of Special
Districts and served as its secretary/treasurer.
Licensed Painting and Papering Contractor, 1984 to 1989. Provided bids for
work, invoiced clients for completed work, maintained all accounts receivable and
payable records, worked with other contractors and suppliers to complete
projects.

Trustee for Kearns Improvement District, 1986 to 2010, served several terms as
board chairman, liaison for the district to the Kearns Community Council, oversaw
$12,000,000 budget.
Trustee for Leadership Institute Board of the Salt Lake Business Alliance, March
2001 to present. Chair of this board from 2003 to 2005 and 2012 to 2014. This
multi-Chamber of Commerce program teaches leadership principles and
introduces business and community leaders to a broad variety of businesses,
services, and infrastructure present in the area.
Academy of Finance Board Member, 1998 to present. The Board oversees a
program giving high school students work experience and college-level business
courses. Past chair of this board.
Granite Education Foundation Children’s Friend Committee, 2009 to 2013.
Assisted with planning and auction item solicitation for this annual fundraiser.
Director for Midvalley Federal Employees Credit Union, 1991 to 2008. Oversaw
operating budget and $7,000,000 in financial assets.
Boy Scouts of America, 1979 to present, served in various positions including
Assistant Scoutmaster, Explorer Post Advisor, Assistant District Commissioner,
Troop Committee Chairman, Merit Badge Counselor (helped scouts earn more
than 1,000 merit badges), and Institutional Representative.
Kearns High School Community Council, 2003 to 2008. The Community Council
determines how to support in-school educational programs with special funding.
