Long Range Planning Guide for Clubs &
Districts
• Involve past, current, and incoming club leaders
• Have an unbiased facilitator or group of facilitators
run strategic planning meetings
• Align club goals with those of District and the Rotary
International Strategic Priorities and Goals
• Draft a vision statement describing your club in the
future

1. The Process
• A 2 – 3 hour event. Flexible delivery
• Led by a trained experienced Rotarian
facilitators.
• Ideally it should include a representative
body of the Club’s members (or all
members in a small club)
• All members’ ideas are of equal value.

the process in 10+ Districts shared two
common results.
• The Club encountered membership
growth in the first year
• Clubs initiated at least one other
significant service project or endeavour.

• Gave club members the opportunity to
talk about where they want the club to
go (never enough time at meetings)
• It was not at all boring (as was
expected by some). I liked the dot
concept.

• The concept of looking ahead 5 years,
gave the opportunity to be daring
• What energy was in the room last
night! We certainly would have received
an award from the District Governor at
Conference.
