From the very beginning of this music video, there is a sense of distress. The lighting is very limited which represents
unhappiness. A teenage boy is introduced lying on his bed. A sign of distress would be the face of the boy. He is looking
up towards his ceiling with a un-expressional face which suggests he might be feeling lost or troubled about something.

Kelly Rowland, the artist of the video is sitting on the floor is a glow light effect around her. I feel this is trying to
symbolise that she is playing the ghost of the video. She is not actually their but is over watching the boy. In another
shot, the boy is gripping a piece of material which could either be a piece of clothing or a towel. This symbolises that he
is perhaps distressed.

The boy leaves his bed and heads downstairs to find his mother with her head in her hands. His sister is sitting with the
mother with a cheerless facial expression. As the mothers head comes up to look at the boy, she has a bruised face
which tells the audience she has most likely been abused. The boy’s facial expression is shaken. The lighting is again
very limited which makes the atmosphere very gloomy. It gives the setting a dismal factor. As if something has gone
wrong or if something bad is going to happen. As if it’s building up towards something hurtful. Kelly is again in the
background with a glow which suggests she’s not actually in the scene. The boy exits with out speaking which helps
represent he’s troubled.

As the boy walks along the path with his backpack, he looks angry and very lost. The lighting has a grey tint to add
tension and sorrow. A slow motion effect has been added, like something dire is going to happen. He walks past lockers
which symbols he’s in school. The motion has become slower and the lighting is darker which tells the audience the
something bad is coming much closer. The boy enters the toilets. There is a blue and grey tint in this scene which
makes it feel cold and gloomy. There is then a flash and it goes onto the next scene.

The next scene represents a young teen girl walking through by the lockers which the boy did. She suddenly turns in
surprise then enters the toilets. Her face is very confused. She opens the cubicle which the boy entered and her face
turns into hysterical terror. It portrays that she has perhaps found the boy in a bad state worst, dead. She runs out
screaming. The next scene represents the boy being carried under a blanket. This resembles that he’s obviously dies
(committed suicide). He probably did it as he was feeling depressed. The lyrics before the chorus goes ‘he’s not
invisible anymore’. This symbolises that he was perhaps not a popular boy at school and may have not had many
friends. When he’s carried out, the audience get a better clue that it is him as his shoes are hanging out from
underneath the blanket. It goes on to show school kids crying with news reporters interviewing them.

There is a scene where it flashes back to the past when the boy is still alive. It shows him eating his lunch at school.
He’s sitting on his own which suggest he had no friends. Other school kids are pointing and laughing at him, which tells
the audience he was picked on. This is what perhaps partly depressed him. It then flashed back to the present time.
Kids who bullied him are crying, which shows their huge regret for not talking to him.

After this we go onto a slightly different story. This time it is about the girl who found the boy in the toilets. It begins by
showing her crying on her bedroom floor. This represents that she is obviously upset. It then goes onto to her having
her blood pressure taken. Conventions such as a midwife and baby pictures on the wall suggests the girl is pregnant
and this is why she is crying.

The next scene goes onto some boys playing basketball. It focuses on a specific boy who is the best player. After he
gets the ball into the net, he goes over to his friends and girlfriend. He then notices three boys walking together staring
at him. He looks very suspicious. He then falls to floor as he has just been shot. Possible reasons behind this could be
jealousy. People rush over as the boy lays on the floor and dies. These three characters were the victims in this video.

The final main scene is of the girl walking over to a memorial wall for the two boys who died. She is with a push chair
which suggests this is a later on as she had just turned pregnant when first introduced. There are lots of people looking
over the wall. The girl writes a specific quote on the wall ‘think before you act. This is the moral of the video. Everyone in
the video had acted in a way to cause pain and misery. The first boy committed suicide. If he had perhaps talked to
someone trustworthy about how he felt, then he could have conquered his misery. The school kids all bullied him. They
had acted in such a way to drive that boy to this state of depression. The young girl had become pregnant at a young
age. The lyrics go ‘She could have been a movie star, never got the chance to go that far’. This states that because she
became pregnant, she ruined her chances of this great opportunity. The boys who shot the last boy may have been
jealous of him due to his great talent. At the end of each chorus it goes ‘life was stole, now we’ll never know’. The video
is trying to tell the audience that if these incidents did not occur, then perhaps their lives would have been much better.
No one will ever know.
