29. The French still owned Louisiana. Jefferson sent his ambassador, Robert Livingston Napoleon Bonaparte sold Louisiana to. America for 11.25 million dollars. This comes to about .11 cents an acre. The Louisiana Purchase more than doubled the size of the country.

30. Because farmers moved west to create new states, New England began to fear being outnumbered by the southern states. The Essex Junto Drafted a plan to leave the union- secede. They don’t do it, but just the fact that they talked about it shows the division between north and south already beginning.

31. Burr heard this and challenged Hamilton to a duel Aaron Burr—ran for governor of New York Alexander Hamilton- declares Burr is “A dangerous man who ought not be trusted with the reigns of government”. The French still owned Louisiana. July 11, 1804 Burr shot and killed Hamilton in a duel
