year
Lionel Messi scored 91 goals in 69 games in 2012 at the age of 25. He broke a
record of the German Striker Gerd Muller who scored 85 goals in a calendar year
in 1972. Messi scored 79 goals for La Blaugrana and 12 for La Albiceleste.
Recently because of him Argentina has won it’s FIFA World Cup in 2022.
2. Most international goals by a single player
Ali Daei from Iran held the record of the all-time men’s international top goal
scorer with 109 goals in 149 appearances between 1993 and 2006 for his
national team. This achievement is listed in Guinness World Records.
3. Most goals scored in a single World Cup
Just Fontaine, a French player who scored 13 goals in the 1958 World Cup.
4. Most FIFA World Cup wins by a country
Brazil has won the World Cup 5 times which makes it clear that Brazil is the real
champion of football. Countries like Italy and Germany have won it four times
each. Brazil has defeated countries like Sweden in 1958, Czechoslovakia in
1962, Italy in 1970 and 1994 and Germany in 2002.
5. Most consecutive league titles
Celtic FC won 9 Scottish Premier League titles in a row from 2011 to 2019. Celtic
is a Scottish professional football club based in Glasgow, which plays in the
Scottish Premiership. The club was founded in 1887 with the purpose of
alleviating poverty in the Irish immigrants in the East End of Glasgow.
6. Longest unbeaten run-in league matches
Arsenal FC went 49 league matches without losing between 2003 and 2004. It is
the only team in the premier to go unbeaten the entire season.
7. Most consecutive clean sheets
Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar held a record of keeping 14
consecutive clean sheets in the 2008-2009 season.
8. Most appearances for a single club
Ryan Giggs, a former footballer from Wales has held the astonishing record of
most appearances by playing 963 matches for Manchester United.
9. Most league titles won by a player
Apart from most appearances Ryan Giggs won 36 trophies including 13 Premier
League titles with Manchester United. This is higher than any other English
football player.
10. Fastest hat-trick in a Premier League match
Sadio Mane Senegalese football player who plays for Bayern Munich club
managed to score a hat-trick in 2 minutes 56 seconds for Liverpool against Aston
Villa in 2015. This is considered to be the fastest hat-trick in the history of the
Premier League.
11. Fastest goal in FIFA World Cup match
Hakan Şükür, a professional Turkish player scored a goal just 11 seconds into
the third-place playoff match against South Korea in the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
His 11 second strike in Dague World Cup Stadium is also the fifth fastest goal in
international football history. Whereas a German football player Lukas Podolski
holds the record of fastest goal in just 6 seconds in international men’s football
against Ecuador in 2013.

season
Dinamo Zagreb a Croatian professional football club based in Zagreb won 26
consecutive matches in the 2018-2019 season of the Croatian First Football
League.
13. Most penalties saved in a single Premier League
season
Tim Krul, a Dutch footballer saved 5 penalties for Newcastle United in the
2013-2014 season. Tim began his career at hometown club RAS and later local
club ADO Den Haan. Then he joined Premier League club Newcastle United in
2005.
14. Most goals scored in a single UEFA Champions
League season
Cristiano Ronaldo holds a record of scoring 17 goals for Real Madrid in the
2013-2014 season.
