Please allow us to introduce ourselves.
We are Profuomo, suppliers of gentlemen´s
shirts and accessories since 1934.
Profuomo is a family-owned business founded
in 1934 by Heinz Michaelis, a tailor with a clear
vision. Heinz wanted to make high quality clothing
produced with special care and attention given to
every stage of the design and production process.
Everything from the raw material to the final
stitches should be chosen and applied with
consideration and deliberation.
The products we make today are inspired by the
same philosophy that Heinz introduced back in
1934, with the benefit of the knowledge and
expertise accumulated by three generations of the
same family.
As you’d expect from a family-run Italian design collection,
the way we approach our collections hasn’t changed since
we started in 1934. We still use the finest raw materials
we can find and we work with the best Italian weavers.
However, our manufacturing techniques have moved
with the times. We combine the methods and traditions that
have served us for generations with the latest technologies
available. With one eye on the past and the other on the
future, we can ensure we continue to make the highest
quality products possible.
History
Craftsmanship
A typical Profuomo customer is a
business professional, aged between
25 and 55, who is conscious about his
appearance. He is interested in style
and wants to dress appropriately. A
sophisticated urbanite, he appreciates
beauty but also value.
Our playing field is the northern
European market. We firmly
believe that our products would be
appreciated in other parts of the
world, however, we’re very happy
where we are for the moment.
We specialize in elegant products
that our audience will enjoy: shirts,
knitwear, ties, belts, scarves, plus
other accessories. We aim to sell
exclusively stylish products that
combine impeccable quality and
great value.

The details
MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
SHIRTS
Every size has a unique cut to ensure a
perfect fit for every customer.
Our shirts come in three fits: super slim fit,
slim fit & regular fit. Slim fit is by far the most
popular, yet thanks to the different body cut
per size, the fit remains commercial.
We use shank fastened Ascolite buttons that
are heat sealed and secured. Thanks to this
technique, our buttons never fall off and are
easier to open and close. All our buttons are
stitched with chicken feet, just like the grand
old Italian shirtmakers used to do it.
NON IRON
All Originale shirts are non-
iron (thanks to a treatment
of liquid ammonia and
moist cure), with the
exception of the stretch,
print and linen shirts.
The Originale shirts are
mid-level priced
THE COLLECTION

structure.
We employ high quality
interlining in our collars for
a softer touch.
STITCHING
We use 8 stitches per cm to
create quality garments that

A guide for finding
the perfect white shirt for
any and every occasion
Ties
The very first product Profuomo launched
way back in 1934. The fabrics are hand-
picked in the beautiful Italian city of Como
and made in the southern part of the
country. Almost all of our ties are made of
silk and have a woolen interlining that adds a
rich feel to the material.
Originale ties are the real business deal, and
include our more outspoken ties as well.
The tie width is always in line with current
fashion trends.
Sky Blue is for the genuine tie aficionado.
This collection represents the very best ties
available, including 3-fold & 7-fold ties.
Informalist boasts the slimmest ties and a
wide range of different fabrics including
cotton/silk and wool/silk blends.
Knitwear
We use the very finest materials for our
knitwear collection: merino from Tollegno, rich
pima cotton and beautiful blends including
wool/cashmere, and wool/cotton. V-necks,
O-necks, cardigans and mock-zips form the
foundation of our collection, while in terms of
patterns, we keep it simple by only offering
solids. The fit is commercial but slim.
Belts
Only the best Italian organic leather is used to
make Profuomo belts. Many are adapted with
vegetable tanning, an old technique that uses
plants to provide the colouring.
All our belts are adjustable, except the
braided belts, and with products boasting
calf leather and beautiful side- and hand-
polishing, we provide a great value premium
collection. The vast majority of the collection
consists of never out of stock products.
Scarves
Our scarves cover three out of the four seasons
- however, with Northern European weather
this probably extends to the whole year.
For spring our trans-seasonal scarves are
made from lightweight fabrics like cotton,
linen and modal to make sure that no matter
whether customers are motivated by fashion,
or purely practical reasons, they can always
pick the perfect scarf.
As the leaves fall in autumn, the materials
for our scarves turn to light wool, cotton and
modal. In the last couple of years these type
of scarves have evolved into a strong and
commercially important collection.
During winter, wool in all sorts of patterns
and colours are used in different weights to
keep everyone wrapped up warm.
Accessories are never an afterthought at Profuomo.
We give them nothing less than our full attention
- for example, pocket squares are delivered
in a nice presentation box.
‘‘The details make the difference’’ Our gloves always have natural fabric
lining like wool or cashmere.
Our braces are made with European elastic straps
and enhanced with leather details.
As you would expect, we have a dedicated product
specialist for each of our product groups. Every product
manager is completely focused and fully dedicated
to providing our customers with the best possible
products in his or her field.
Furthermore, as a family-owned company, we do
not have any shareholders demanding higher profit
margins, therefore we can keep our costs low.
These two advantages allows us to achieve our goal of
providing customers with the perfect combination of
style and value.
The Fashion LAB
The Flagship Stores
Profuomo believes that when it comes to retail environments, men like a clear product overview
and a good balance between experience and convenience. This is the philosophy we implement
in our stores. Product groups are clearly categorized to give a quick overview of the entire store.
Rich materials, combined with presentation mannequins in the store and windows, show off
Profuomo’s DNA and exudes our stylish flavour.
The success of our retail approach is shown in our sales figures. Despite challenging market
conditions, we have been able to increase our turnover with double-digit growth year after year.
You can find the first Profuomo flagship store on
P.C. Hooftstraat in Amsterdam, one of the most
luxurious shopping avenues in the world.
The second Profuomo flagship store is located on
Meent, a premium retail location in the heart
of Rotterdam.
We do everything with our customers in mind, both instore and online. In April 2015 we launched
our webshop, a showcase to give our customers the full brand experience and the opportunity to
peruse our full product range. Our webshop represents a platform where we can share product
photos and information, as well as real time stock levels with our partners.
For the last two years we have enriched our site with an online magazine. This blog is the starting
point of our content strategy. We talk about subjects that interest us, but keep the focus firmly
on our products. Of course, all content is shared with our customers via Facebook, Instagram,
Pinterest and in our newsletters.

The Profuomo Look
From 2013 onwards our goal has been to focus on communication - as a product specialist this
will always be an important priority for us. Besides talking about our products, we also wanted to
share more of our DNA with our customers and provide a clear flavour of the brand. We found our
inspiration in a venerable Dutch tradition: paintings. Now we make our own ‘paintings’ for each
forthcoming season. These images balance creativity and artistry with our no-nonsense philosophy.
The focus remains firmly on our products, ensuring that Profuomo will always be in style.
SS15
FW15
Social responsibility is equally as important for us as making
elegant products. Our goal is to develop products that
are sustainable for everyone involved in the manufacturing
process, as well as the person who will wear them. In our
quest to develop and produce attractive, sustainable
collections we focus on the following four areas:
Social Compliancy
We want our products to be made in factories with good
working conditions. We are strongly against child labour and
work exclusively with manufacturers who offer employees
a good wage, a clean and safe working environment and
reasonable working hours. We actively participate in the
Business Social Compliancy Initiative (BSCI) to improve
working conditions throughout our supply chain and beyond.
All Profuomo suppliers are regularly inspected by independent
agencies to ensure they comply with these standards.
Environmental Compliancy
Our goal is to ensure that all our products are made with
respect for people and the environment. Of course, we
adhere to EU standards (REACH) but as we always strive
for the very best, we have already surpassed these criteria
in many areas. We have compiled a list of materials and
chemicals than cannot - either totally or above a certain
level – be present in our products. All of our producers must
adhere to this restricted substance list, and to ensure they do,
our products are regularly tested by independent agencies.
Ethical Compliancy
The origins of a product are just as important as its
manufacture – especially if it’s made from a natural material
like leather or wool. We aim for a totally transparent supply
chain, which also takes the wellbeing of the animal into
account.
Physical Compliancy
In addition to how our products are sourced and
produced (including the social conditions in which they are
manufactured), we also place a great value on the quality
of our products. However, quality can only be accurately
assessed once it has been clearly established what criteria
the products must meet. In addition to the tests referred
to above, our products are also subjected to physical tests
including colour fastness, tensile strength, shrinkage and fit.
All the standards for our products and supply chain are
documented in our Code of Conduct. This document
represents an integral part of our strategic vision for
the future.

Besides talking about our products, we also wanted to share more of our DNA with our customers and provide a clear flavour of the brand. We found our inspiration in a venerable Dutch tradition: paintings. Now we make our own ‘paintings’ for each forthcoming season. These images balance creativity and artistry with our no-nonsense philosophy. The focus remains firmly on our products, ensuring that Profuomo will always be in style. SS15 FW15
  • 21. Social responsibility is equally as important for us as making elegant products. Our goal is to develop products that are sustainable for everyone involved in the manufacturing process, as well as the person who will wear them. In our quest to develop and produce attractive, sustainable collections we focus on the following four areas: Social Compliancy We want our products to be made in factories with good working conditions. We are strongly against child labour and work exclusively with manufacturers who offer employees a good wage, a clean and safe working environment and reasonable working hours. We actively participate in the Business Social Compliancy Initiative (BSCI) to improve working conditions throughout our supply chain and beyond. All Profuomo suppliers are regularly inspected by independent agencies to ensure they comply with these standards. Environmental Compliancy Our goal is to ensure that all our products are made with respect for people and the environment. Of course, we adhere to EU standards (REACH) but as we always strive for the very best, we have already surpassed these criteria in many areas. We have compiled a list of materials and chemicals than cannot - either totally or above a certain level – be present in our products. All of our producers must adhere to this restricted substance list, and to ensure they do, our products are regularly tested by independent agencies. Ethical Compliancy The origins of a product are just as important as its manufacture – especially if it’s made from a natural material like leather or wool. We aim for a totally transparent supply chain, which also takes the wellbeing of the animal into account. Physical Compliancy In addition to how our products are sourced and produced (including the social conditions in which they are manufactured), we also place a great value on the quality of our products. However, quality can only be accurately assessed once it has been clearly established what criteria the products must meet. In addition to the tests referred to above, our products are also subjected to physical tests including colour fastness, tensile strength, shrinkage and fit. All the standards for our products and supply chain are documented in our Code of Conduct. This document represents an integral part of our strategic vision for the future. Social Responsibility
