Weather of Halifax Halifax Weather and Climate: Spring - Halifax, Nova Scotia (NS), CanadaAlways a popular time to visit Halifax, spring signals the end of the frosty winter weather and from March onwards, daytime temperatures stay well above freezing. In April, sunny spring weather in Halifax results in daytime temperatures reaching up to 10°C / 50°F on occasion, although the nights are still fairly chilly at this time of the year. Mid-spring in Halifax often features foggy weather, which becomes particularly common during the evenings and nights.Typical spring Halifax weather: -2°C / 28°F -9°C / 16°F Halifax weather in March 2°C / 36°F -5°C / 23°F Halifax weather in April 8°C / 46°F 0°C / 32°F Halifax weather in May 14°C / 57°F 5°C / 41°F Halifax weather in June 19°C / 66°F 10°C / 50°F

Local customs Many stores are closed all day, or partially,  on Sunday. Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale is a local favorite brew. Instead of “cheers”, “sociable” is often said. The Canadian one- dollar coin is known as a “loony”; the two-dollar coin is known “toony”. Thanksgiving in Canada is the second Monday in October.

  2. Please hold questions until the end of the 45 minute lecture. We have this area for an hour. If you still have questions, I’m at my desk – located next to the Tour Desk in the main lobby – from 9 a.m. to noon.
  3. Halifax is our first port-of-call our voyage. It’s just one of the exciting destinations for Princess.
  4. Halifax is on the east coast of the Canada. The population is between that of Albuquerque, NM (appox 529,000) and Kansas City, MO (appox 480,000)
  5. Quote (don’t read, just for info purposes here: ‘ The First Nations People of Nova Scotia are known as the Mi'kmaq. At the time of first contact with European explorers in the 16th and 17th centuries the Mi'kmaq lived in the region now known as the Maritime provinces and the Gaspé peninsula. Later they also settled in New England and Newfoundland. The Mi'kmaq called themselves L'nu'k, meaning "the people." The term Mi'kmaq comes from their word nikmak, meaning "my kin-friends." ‘ These drawing are from a Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History information sheet. This museum is just one of twenty sevenlocated throughout the province. The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is near the pier where we will dock.1747 Summer Street,
  6. 1749, Lord Edward Cornwallis founded. The noted groups played a role in the development of the city.
