Since 1991, Suzanne Collins has been busy writing for children’s television. She has worked
on the staffs of several Nickelodeon shows, including the Emmy-nominated hit Clarissa
Explains it All and The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo. For preschool viewers, she penned
multiple stories for the Emmy-nominated Little Bear and Oswald. She also co-wrote the
critically acclaimed Rankin/ Bass Christmas special, Santa, Baby! Most recently she was the
Head Writer for Scholastic Entertainment’s Clifford’s Puppy Days, and a freelancer on Wow!
Wow! Wubbzy!
While working on a Kids WB show called Generation O! she met children’s author James
Proimos, who talked her into giving children’s books a try.
Thinking one day about Alice in Wonderland, she was struck by how pastoral the setting must
seem to kids who, like her own, lived in urban surroundings. In New York City, you’re much
more likely to fall down a manhole than a rabbit hole and, if you do, you’re not going to
find a tea party. What you might find...? Well, that’s the story of Gregor the Overlander, the
first book in her five-part fantasy/ war series, The Underland Chronicles.
AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY
3. In Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen has just participated and won in the Hunger Games
which is an annual event where children from the twelve districts fight to the death. The book starts out with
Katniss going around in the victory tour which is something to celebrate the winner or, in this case, winners (
Katniss and Peeta. ) Katniss cannot wait for everything about the hunger games to disappear from her
memory. So after the tour is over she gets to spend a couple of normal weeks in her district. It just so
happens that every twenty-five years there is an event called the Quarter Quell which is another event that all
the districts have to participate in. The Quarter Quell is always changing and this year it was pretty
unfortunate. President Snow always chooses randomly what event it will be, while all the districts wait
anxiously and the event that they are participating in this Quarter Quell will be, two victors, a man and a
woman, from each district must participate in another Hunger Games. Unfortunately Katniss was the only girl
victor from district twelve so she had no choice but to participate and Peeta who was Katniss’s partner for the
Hunger Games volunteered for Haymitch when he was called. So off went Katniss and Peeta to the same
arena and the same game. Although every other victor was bigger and older and you could almost say wiser
than Katniss and Peeta. Haymitch had known many of these victors which led him to make alliances with
them for Katniss and Peeta. The day comes and Katniss enters the arena once again but now everything has
changed. Along the way Katniss finds out a mysterious entity about the arena, has many people save her and
Peeta’s lives. Will Katniss survive through the mysterious arena? Read this great story to find out.

I chose Set Fire to the Rain by Adele beacause it a strong song with lyrics
that describe sometimes how i think that Katniss was feeling during the
book and it has the word fire in it like the title of the book.
12. I would say I would give this book 4 ½ out of 5 stars because it was always
