Experienced, tenacious, dedicated, self-motivated Information Technology Engineer with 15+ years
experiences in Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Service, Support, and Strategy.
Skilled at:
Product Positioning, Evangelism, Building Value Proposition, Competitive Positioning, Creating and
Delivering Product Messaging, Managing and Interfacing with Customer End Users and Decision
Makers, Enterprise Storage Solutions (including File, Block, and Object), Channel Sales, Solutions
Selling, and Team Building.
Experiences:
System, Network, and Security Administration
• Working with the Standard and Poors IT Team, produced a multi-phased, based on risk assessment, Disaster
Preparedness Plan.
• With Sun Microsystems I was afforded the opportunities to be their Secure OS Ambassador and lead a test team
evaluating the behavior of COTS products running under the disciplines of the Sun Secure OS. I also produced an
introduction technical document, for SE and customers alike, about the PCNFS product.
• During my time with DoD Contractors Martin Marietta, Lockheed Martin, and Northrup Grumman, my
accomplishments and experiences included running a small office data center; had the a lead position in establishing
and running a large satellite flight data center; and, was the Chief HW Engineer for the development of two ground
stations supporting satellite flight operations.
Pre-Sales Technical Solutions
• I hired on with EMC to focus on storage and SAN technology. After accelerating in SAN expertise, I was part of the team that
spun-off with the McDATA SAN start-up. For both, EMC and McDATA, I was the regional SAN technology evangelist.
Supporting the American Express customer, I developed the concept, and demonstration/documentation, for the utility analogy of
the SAN switching technology. During 9/11, the team I was on, supported the recovery of American Express to their DR remote
site.
• After five years focused on introduction and evolution of the SAN technology, a new technology caught my attention;
Deduplication. I supported Quantum and Data Domain in evangelizing the benefits of Deduplication as well as
contrasting the differences of the technology proposed by the two vendors. The tasks were mainly pre-sales technical
support for data backup, lifecycle management, and disaster recovery with emphasis on data Deduplication
technology. Produced customer presentations, requirements analysis, architecture designs, quote reviews, and sizing
exercises.
• A past co-worker gave me a call and said: "What are you doing these days? I'm gonna get the 'band' back together for
Oracle -- they are looking for x-Sun employees; are you interested?" At that time, Oracle had just acquired Sun
Microsystems, and having career relationships with many of the hiring team, the offer and hire-on processed
extremely quickly. Oracle was announcing and releasing their first of the Engineered Systems, the Exa-series and I
found myself, once again, in a bit of an evangelist role, with tons of pre-sales solutions architecture activities.
• Most recently, found a small storage start-up, Dot Hill, and supported their OEM relationship with Tektronix, as well as
the development of a Channel business for the western region. Volunteered to take on the task of the SE Lab move
and subsequently became responsible for the SE Lab in its new location.
