Within this series you will find short presentations that explain the main tools used by Forbes 500 companies to gamify their processes, apps, web sites and marketing campaigns.
The presentation is created to be engaging for people new to Gamification as well as people with an already strong base of knowledge on gamification using the Octalysis framework created by Yukai Chou.

2. Meaningful Choice
A good gamified design allows the user
to choose their own goals within a set of
meaningful choices.
The choices should all serve a clear
purpose and help to guide the player to
the win-state/ business objective.
Giving the user control over their own
strategy within the created environment
is one of the techniques you can use to
create an engaging experience.

3. As an example, an often used technique
in games is the “General Carrot”
technique.
!
Current systems use the old Carrot on
a stick method in which both goals and
strategy are enforced from outside the
user’s control.
!
Within the General Carrot technique
the user is instead told about what
needs to be achieved but left to find out
by themselves on how to get the carrot.
