 Heart Disease deaths at 1.6x state average
 43% of adults consider themselves in “less than
good health”
 Well above average rates of diabetes,
hypertension, depression, and general mortality

 Congressman Rogers launched this
health and wellness initiative 5 years
ago
 Community Center anchored,
partnered with local schools,
Morehead State, retired teachers,
many others
 Raised awareness, launched health
and wellness programs
 Inspired our community to get
moving
 Long after the grant, still going
strong!

10. COMMUNITY CENTER PROGRAMS
KEEP US ON THE MOVE!
 Over 5,000 lbs of weight has been lost through
“Operation Slimdown” in the last 5 years
 Added biking trail, heritage village and mountain
walking trails, tennis courts, playground – with plans
for more!
 Martin County On the Move’s impact has been real
and contagious – the community center has become a
hub of physical activity
