Joseph R. CoughlinProfessor PowellOctober 13, 2013IMKT120Northwestern Technologies: Adapting a Social Media Marketing StrategyPresented By Joseph R. Coughlin Greetings, my name is Joseph R. Coughlin from IADT, and today we will be discussing the various benefits and drawbacks to incorporating the use of social media in your company marketing strategy.
Today’s Agenda:Today we will define social media and associate it with some important names. We will talk about why social media has evolved into a perfect opportunity for marketing your products. We will find out who uses social media and how this could benefit your company. Transitioning from there into some more specific topics including how best to incorporate this into your current marketing technique and some key points in maximizing opportunity for scoring a big hit from usage of these processes.
Social media is loosely defined as the exchange of information by using virtual or electronic methods. This is incredible tool for reaching out to a wide variety of people from all parts of the globe and multiple demographics with the same tools. It is also increasingly popular. In 2012 there were a reported 1.43 billion users amongst all major sources of social media (Facebook 2012) and the same research also states that this number reflected a 19.2% increase over 2011’s user data.
Here are some interesting statistics that will help you to gain an understanding of what you may gain from using social media. Of course by using these statistics you can then begin to answer the question of when and why you decide to take advantage of this marketing outlet. These statistics were taken from an older article from 2009, but still hold a fair amount of relevance to today’s marketing world. Zeke Camuslo reports that of 880 respondents, these business owners provided the following statistics: - 81 % of these marketers saw a gain in business exposure from social media advertising - 61% gained more traffic or subscribers to their services - 56% actually gained new business partners as a result of social media marketing - 52% saw a rise in their visibility on search engines - 48% generated promising new leads for their business ventures -45% saw a reduction in their overall marketing costs (Camuslo, 2009)I encourage you to take a look at this website to find more statistics from the marketing world, the total survey is quite enlightening and comprehensive, much more information than is even feasible to share in this short presentation.
By this point you may be asking how Northwestern Technologies can get involved and take advantage of this marketing strategy. As you can see I have divided this concept into two parts; of course both parts can be done internally, however I have found that many of our current clients decided it is more equitable to take advantage of our expertise and programs. Essentially, let IADT handle the execution of your goals in the most efficient ways possible. Most importantly, you must decide what you wish to accomplish with your marketing, hopefully the last slide gave you some ideas of what you can expect to see happening. Then you (or we) can take a look at your current marketing program and find out what the best adaptation would be after introducing social media. Finally, from there we will take a look at the technology industry, and more specifically the same niche that Northwestern Technologies resides within, and tailor the strategy to your needs. As you of course know, and pioneer, technology changes fast and the trends in social media are no exception. We at IADT take pride in staying on top of the newest trends and technology promising to keep your social media marketing hip and happening; and most importantly – providing results.
As with any marketing venture, social media marketing comes with many different price-tags contingent on many variables such as immersion, consistency and whether the work will be handled internally or externally. We offer so many different tailored options for you that it is hard to answer the question with a more generalized number. However I can say that our average client cost is much lower than you would probably expect.Should you folks choose to advance with our services we will build a comprehensive package to meet your expectations and budget. As you can see in your handout there are some general guides for options such as how many accounts we will maintain, whether you have one of our on site consultants available and how visible you want your business to become.
