2. Give & Take Days are a great way to reuse items that are
too good to throw away but you just don’t have a use for
them anymore – people bring reusable items between 10am
and 1pm, then take away anything they want from 1:30pm
to 3pm – it’s free!
Not only did we reduce waste in the community, items
stayed within the local community and saved people money
from having to buy new items, and charities benefitted by
receiving the items left over at the end of the day.

3. TALLY FROM GIVE
& TAKE DAY:
Close the Loop Company partnered with MCCD (Monroe
County Conservation District) who counted 1425 people
attended the event. We estimated close to 4,000 items came
in that day to the Give & Take, from an estimated 150-180
vehicles, weighing about 5095 pounds, worth tens of
thousands of dollars in value, saved from becoming waste in
a landfill, and went to good use in our local community.
Leftover items were donated to Our Lady Queen of Peace in
Brodheadsville. About 3 bags of trash were generated from
the entire event. Everything else was recycled or reused.
The Earth Day event was fun, relevant, helpful and
educational to people from all walks of life…
