1. Your new life stage: Fulfilment in Ageing
Thinking through your options will help you to create a
retirement plan that works for you. This
may include pursuing your interests
or part-time work, volunteering,
travel, study and balancing family
commitments. As a qualified
counsellor specialising in Acceptance
and Commitment Therapy Training (ACT)
I can assist you to plan your future and manage potential
road blocks quickly and effectively should they arise.
Are any of these familiar to you?
Planning
Creating Life Options
“I do not want to retire because when I do I know
that I will be expected to look after my grandchildren”
“My wife has so many jobs for me that I could spend
all my retirement doing that and not enjoying any of
my own interests”
“How will I cope with the boredom?”
“What will I do with the time?”
“People will not value me as
they have done when I was
working”
“I do not want to think about getting older and losing
friends and family”
“I have always focused on my career and have not
thought about how I can have a sense of purpose
outside of work”
Like any milestone in our lives, planning generally
means that we will be more successful and achieve
our goals.People usually focus on their retirement
savings and income with no real plan for how they
intend to manage their life, time and relationships.
Fear and subsequent avoidance results in failure
to plan.

“Rick was a fantastic source of support for me. He
clearly understood and responded to how I was
positioned after my retrenchment. At no stage did
I feel like I was being ‘processed’ through a
pre-determined system. He was very open, flexible
and knowledgeable at all times and gave me tangible,
meaningful and specific guidance. I really enjoyed
my one-on-one’s with him. A very personable and
skilled consultant.”
“Excellent Subject knowledge.”

track whenever I got side-tracked. Rick’s coaching was
almost solely responsible for boosting my self-esteem
