INDUSTRY PROFILE
Ricardo Ruiz has a diverse portfolio of experience in the entertainment
industry where he has functioned in a variety of roles. Four years ago, he
joined the team of Claro Video Inc., the OTT entertainment extension of
América Móvil, Latin America’s leading telecommunications services
provider.
As part of the Claro video team, he initially worked in the Operations
Department handling multiple facets of ingestion of content. During his time
in Operations, he established processes and managed all the content to be
aired for the launch of the linear channel “Cinema Dinamita”. He was
responsible for everything from quality assurance to on-air editing. Today
the channel has more than 200MM views between different social
networks.
He eventually transitioned to the Content Department, an entity comprised
of several units responsible for the front-end of the product –
www.clarovideo.mx. As part of the Content Department, he managed the
editorial functions where he was responsible for ensuring the editorial
selection of the platform. Some key responsibilities included generating and
implementing ideas to promote appealing packaging of content to the end-
consumer as well as spearheading the creation of Content Presentations
currently being used by senior management.
Before shifting gears into the media industry he was actively involved in the
music business where he was the lead singer of the band “Area 305”. In
2006 the band was nominated for a Latin Grammy for best album of the
year. Although music has played a pivotal role in his life, Mr. Ruiz is
dedicated to the emerging markets where technology and entertainment
intersect.
He currently resides in Pembroke Pines, FL. He is an avid consumer of
OTT products and continues to write-music whenever he is inspired.
