2. I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to attain the following:
A. Note and distinguish the important details in the poems;
B. Determine the mood, purpose and key ideas of the authors as reflected in the
poems;
C. Present and share the significance of the poems in the lives of the readers; and
D. Create and perform a task, aligned with the learners’ 21st century skills, that
depicts the message of the literary pieces and influence the people in expressing
their thoughts and feelings.

III.Procedure
A. Review of the Previous Lesson
The teacher will let the learners produce the sound of the magic
expression, “Shhh!!” She will ask a learner to recall the significance of the sound
to the lesson yesterday.
Afterwards, the teacher will associate the idea with the posted pictures on
the board.
B. Motivation
The teacher will let the learners to classify the posted pictures according
to the emotions being reflected. She will encourage the learners to associate the
idea of the activity with the lesson for the day.
C. Presentation of the Lesson
The learners will share their thoughts on the relationship of the classified
pictures to the background information of the poems: Tree of Unhappiness,
3. Pomegranates and the Girl in the Rain which they were asked to read the
previous day.
The teacher will also provide a brief background about the Korean Poetry.
D. Highlights of the Lesson
1. Pre-Reading Activity
The teacher will explain the purpose of the activity which is entitled, “The
Literary Circle”. This activity aims to deepen the learners’ understanding on the
mood, purpose and significance of the poems to the authors and the readers.
The learners will be instructed to meet their group members for the given
task. They will be reminded of the individual assignment of each member.
1. Discussion Manager- The DC will make three significant questions about
the literary pieces which will be discuss by the members of the group.
2. Character Analyzer- The CA will cite a person whom he/ she thinks has
exhibited the characteristics and emotions embedded in the poems.
3. Artful Artist- The AA will create a drawing that capsulized the message of
the poems.
4. Text Connector- The TC will relate the message of the poems to real life
situations.
5. Summarizer- The summarizer will state the general idea of the literary
pieces.
6. Word Finder- The WF will define the unfamiliar words used in the literary
pieces.
7. Passage Picker- The PP will chose and share the most significant line in
the literary pieces.
The learners will also be reminded of the rules in creating the best group
performance. Moreover the learners will be given an essential question which
should be answered at the end of the discussion: Why do people express ideas
and feelings?
2. While-Reading Activity
The teacher will facilitate the reading and discussion of the of the
members of the groups.
3. Post-Reading Activity
The teacher will distribute charts where each group will write what they
learned about the general idea of the three Korean poems observing the
individual assignment given to them.
After five minutes, the outputs should be posted on the board for group
presentation.
Representatives will be asked to explain creatively and effectively their
outputs based on their individual assignment.
4. IV. Enrichment Activity:
With the activity above, the learners will be asked to relate the message of
the poems with their daily experiences as students. They should be able to
determine the reasons why authors express themselves through writing and how
should readers respond/ react to the piece. The teacher will instruct the learners to
write or post their ideas on the board.
The learners will end the activity with their answers to the essential question
posted before the discussion: Why do people express their thoughts and feelings?
V. Evaluation
To facilitate the learners’ understanding, they will be directed to create their
own literary piece.
Directions: Write an original two-stanza poem (sijo) that projects your innermost
feelings about life.

VI. Assignment
1. Research and write a list of Cohesive Devices.
2. Write five (5) grammatically correct sentences observing appropriate cohesive
devices.
