2. St. NICHOLAS´ DAY
On 5th December we celebrate St. Nicholas´
Day – St. Nicholas, an angel and a devil come
to our homes. Children have to sing a song or
say a poem. Good children get some fruit and
sweets and naughty children get coal and
potatoes.
4. CHRISTMAS
Christmas is the most popular festival in our country.
We decorate our flats or houses. We make a
Christmas wreath. On Advent Sundays we light
candles on the wreath.
Women make Christmas
sweets.
5. CHRISTMAS
On 24th December in the
morning we decorate our
Christmas tree. Some people
have the nativity scene
under the tree.
We eat fish or mushroom
soup and fried carp with
potato salad for Christmas
dinner.
6. CHRISTMAS
After the dinner the bell
rings, which means that
Baby Jesus has already
brought the presents. We
go to the tree, sing
Christmas carols and open
our presents. At night
some people go to the
church.
7. CHRISTMAS
There are also other traditions. Some people
cut apples and if they see a star inside, they
will be healthy. Some people send walnut
shells with a candle on the water to see how
far they will travel.
25th and 26th December
are days when members
of family and friends visit
each other.
