SUMMARY
I have a strong team, commercial and practical background in building teams and
developing personnel. This includes 20 years in the building industry during which I
have held senior contracts manager position with a major building contractor and
latterly in excess of 21 years with HM Prison where I was a Senior Officer in a
category B local prison and have been responsible for and supervise 70 staff and have
overseen 1200 prisoners. I hold a Nebosh health & safety certificate and an Iosh
managing safely. I have experience in setting up and maintaining health & safety
systems. I have experience in auditing.
I am loyal, flexible, hardworking and honest and do not shy away from
responsibilities. I am able to get on with subordinates, peers and senior management
alike and have a long history of team working and managing difficult situations. I
have often been in sole responsibility for running the whole Establishment when
working nights. This includes making important decisions to keep things running
effectively. With Health & Safety as paramount I prioritise tasks and allocate them
accordingly. I foresee and identify any problems that could arise and through
teamwork devise and implement action plans to rectify and alleviate this. I obtain
results constantly whilst adhering to, and initiating recognised practices and within a
strict budget and time restrictions.

EMPLOYMENT
2014-present A2sea Solutions Ltd
Carrying out daily tasks as required by management which
include;
Completing audit work as required by benchmarks to attain
standards required by the industry. Deliveries and collection of
materials. Oversee cable testing and the recording of the results.
Assembly of business essential container offices and
workshops. Stores audits. Assisted in the attainment of ISO
9001 and 14001 audits. Introduced and written all the generic
risk assessments, PPE risk assessments & safe systems of work.
Completed the Asbestos register for the two factory units.
Introduced the COSHH risk assessments system. Completed a
company environmental management plan which was adopted
to be used in the tender procedure. Advised management on
their managing sickness procedure and introduced a return to
work form and sickness self-certification form.

Unpaid Work Supervisor
Supervising groups of offenders who are sentenced by the
courts to Community Service. This work entails the organising
of offenders and taking them in a bus to various sites to carry
out various tasks in the community. Report writing on the
offenders and examining their risk assessments. Adhering to
health and safety legislation and administering first aid when
required.

Maintenance assistant (part time)
Ensuring that the reactive repairs to villas are carried out in a
timely and professional standard. Customer service interaction
with guests.
1991-2013 HM Prison Service Agency
2011- 2013 Senior Officer, Security Department
Duties include: Orderly Officer, responsible for the daily
running of a cat B Establishment with a role of approx 1200
prisoners. Duties include supervising staffing levels of the
establishment. Overseeing the daily prisoner movements and
being responsible for management response to any alarm bells.
Organising any hospital escorts on a ad hoc and detailed basis,
including bed watches.
Responsible for the running of the Reception department.
Duties include the smooth transfer of prisoners for escort to

court and transfers or release. Receiving prisoners from court
and in charge of the processing procedure.
Responsible for managing the correspondence
department of the prison, ensuring all monies sent in for the
prisoners are processed in the correct manner and with
operational procedures. Overseeing the daily security aspects of
the Establishment. Including reviewing and processing all the
security information reports which have been submitted by
staff. Liaising with other agencies for the safekeeping of the
public. Overseeing the monitoring of prisoners phone calls.
Responding to prisoners and public complaints in a timely
manner. Completing staff appraisals within a required time
limit. Responsibilities of managing sick absence and managing
poor performers.
2008-2011 Senior Officer, Night Orderly Officer
Duties include: Responsible for the organising, control and
secure safe keeping of the 1200 prisoners and 15 staff.
Resolving any problems which could arise. Including making
dynamic critical and correct decisions within the operational
orders and reporting directly to the Duty Governor when
required. Detailing staff to tasks which arise. Completing the
administration and reporting work on time. Completing staff
appraisals within a required time limit. Responsibilities of
managing sick absence and managing poor performers.
2007-2008 Senior Officer, Industries Department (Sheppey Prisons
Cluster)
Duties include: Organising & encouraging on establishing &
maintaining commercial links with the workshops in the three
prisons. Responsibilities of managing sick absence and
managing poor performers. Overseeing and detailing &
allocating tasks to my workforce in accordance with the
Establishments business plan, i.e. ensuring targets are met and
deliveries are met on time. Generating extra budgets from these
workshops to assist the Establishments annual budget whilst
ensuring value for money. Ensuring educational qualifications
are being achieved for prisoners and staff. Monitoring
workshop performance in accordance with KPT’s. Managing
the security aspect of the workshops. Ensuring all aspects of
Health & Safety are maintained including the completion of all
the risk assessments. Generating performance reports for senior
management on a weekly and monthly basis. Completing staff
appraisals within a required time limit.

prison, ensuring the security and integrity of the prison at the
weakest point and with complying to operational procedures.
Overseeing the daily security aspects of the Establishment.
Including reviewing and processing/issuing of all the security
keys to staff. Responsibility for the detailing of all the staff in
the Security department for crucial daily tasks, In alignment
with the KPT’s. Organising the departments staff annual leave
detailing (approx 60 staff) Completing staff appraisals within a

2000-2005 Senior Trades Officer, Works Department (Sheppey
Prisons Cluster)
Duties include: Writing and awarding contracts, including
specification writing. Overseeing tendering procedures and
writing tenders with outside contractors for the Estate of three
Establishments, and for the Kent Surrey & Sussex areas.
Organising and empowering, overseeing and allocating tasks to
my workforce in accordance with the Establishments business
plan, i.e. building maintenance, budget forecasting for the next
fiscal year, procuring materials and services to maintain the
estate ensuring value for money, maintaining our department’s
responsibilities in accordance with all Health and Safety
Legislation (including COSHH, PUWER, CDM, LOLER, PPE
etc.) Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Involved in
completing risk assessments and adopting a safe system of
work. I have the responsibility of writing and overseeing staff

At the conclusion of my apprenticeship I became a journeyman
working on various projects. During this time I held
managerial positions as Foreman and later Contracts Manager
for a successful joinery company with multi-disciplinary and
financial tasks, including Health and Safety aspects on site. I
have been responsible for the successful running of projects up
to the value of £1.25m with 60 operatives.
