THE PASSIVE VOICE
The passive voice is used when the most important in the sentences is the action and not the
subject or person.
TO BE + PAST PARTICIPLE + BY + SUBJECT
Examples:
 Mary writes very interesting books ( Active Voice)
 Very interesting books are written by Mary (Passive
Voice)
 The famous singer sings rock songs in the concert.
 Rock songs are sung by the famous singer in the
concert.
 My parents sell last model cars in the main avenue.
 Last model cars are sold by my parents in the main
avenue.

Some people see a UFO in the sky above

owner of the shop for shock.
