DINING
When you live in South Florida, you jump
at any chance to dine outdoors and enjoy
the beautiful weather. Piñon Grill, located at
The Terrace at Town Center in Boca Raton,
has created a new outdoor oasis, perfect for
leisurely and laid-back meals. The indoor bar
now flows into an outside patio area, which
offers the perfect perch for guests to enjoy
live entertainment, in a friendly, high-energy
environment.
ExecutiveChefRobertDelGiaccohascreated
an intriguing menu that follows culinary trends,
while pairing new and interesting flavor profiles
with classic favorites. Begin your meal with the
crab fritters wrapped in a crispy nest filled with
crab, shrimp, risotto and lobster-ginger sauce.
These bites are tasty with no fillers. When it
comes to greens, the warm goat cheese salad
with spiced pecans, sun-dried cranberries and
panko-crusted goat cheese is so good, you may
not want to share. Another pleasant surprise
was the hearty chicken tortilla soup, jam-
packed with chicken and topped with crunchy
tortilla strips.
For seafood with a twist, consider the Asian
Sea Bass. The slightly crispy bass with sherry
soy broth, sits nicely on top of fresh spinach,
seared veggies and sticky rice with a hint of
mint. It’s light and the mint adds just the right
amount of flavor.
If you’re a carnivore, there are two mouth-
watering meat dishes to devour. The baby
back ribs are slow-roasted and finished on
the wood fire grill. They are basted with
Piñon’s housemade bbq sauce and served with
shoestring fries. The smoky, sweet meat falls
off the bone. Another standout is the marinated
skirt steak, which is certified Angus beef
soaked for 24-hours in a Hawaiian marinade
with pineapple salsa, and is accompanied by a
delectable au gratin potato.
I’m a dessert girl at heart and I am always
in search of the best bread pudding. Piñon
Grill’s chef has created
a white chocolate bread
pudding served with
vanilla bean ice cream
and raspberry compote.
It is beyond heavenly, and
the moist dessert pairs
perfectly with coffee. The
pecan crusted key lime
pie with fresh whipped
cream is light, and most
importantly, not too tart. ■
