1. After Effect
As I was required to create a short film, along with its poster and
magazine, I used different software to edit images. I used Adobe After
Effect has been used to edit moving images, for example one of the
tool used in this software was ‘tool brush’, which helped me to mask
the main actor from the background, and then I duplicated the layer
that contained the mask in order to use the effect ‘Gaussian Blur’ and
blur the forest, leaving out the main actor from this effect. I did this
because I thought the forest could have been a distraction for the
audience, but by blurring it the actor would have stand out more from
the scene and keep the audience focused on him.
2. Colour Correction
I used a plugin called ‘Magic Bullet Looks’ to create my own personal
colour corrections for the film, this because by using this piece of
software I have been able to be more creative by using its multiple
functions such as ‘Pop’, ‘Diffuse’, ‘Glow’ and ‘Hue Saturation’, instead of
changing only the brightness and contrast through Adobe After Effect.
Most of the colour effect was focus on the blue as the sky scenes were
quite grey. In addition, a realistic and vivid colour correction has been
added on the entire film to make it look like more professional.
3. Camera
In my A2 project I had to use a camera to record moving images,
instead of still images. I recorded some creative shots to make the film
more interesting, however I kept following the conventions of
mainstream film. Some examples of shots are: the running shot of the
main actor, which has been inspired by action film such as ‘The
Avengers’ and ‘The Walk’, the shot of the actor going away from his job
place to gym then covers the camera’s lens, it has been inspired by the
series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D”, as a form of transaction for the nest shot.
In addition, we record a shot of the boxing bag moving to introduce the
scenes in the gym and a shot of the actor sweating by recording his
sweat drops falling on his shoes.
