Gaudiya Vaishnavism as the birthplace of Chaitanya Maha Prabhu, regarded as a special

the place was named after its ruler Raja Krishna Chandra Ray, who was a great patron of

• How to Reach: Tourists can go by Rail ,Road, Located at an approximate distance of 112 km
from kolkata, Krishnanagar is easily accessible by Roadways and Railways .By Railways it
will take tourists an approximate time of 3 hours to reach Krishnanagar from Kolkata
Phulia
• Phulia is a town under Santipur police station of Ranaghat subdivision
• Birthplace of “Adi Kavi” of Bengal Krittibas Ojha, who wrote
“Ramayana” in Bengali.
• Home for weavers of traditional and modern bengal cotton sharis.
• How to Reach: By Rail – direct train from Sealdah (Santipur Local), Get
down at Balagar on Howrah – Katwa section and cross Bhagirathi by

Challenges and Barriers in Tourism Promotion
• Though there are number of Roads and cities and towns are well connected –
average conditions of the roads are bad, in some stretches they are pathetic.
• All towns have good attraction for tourists, but apart from some budget
hotels in Krishnanagar, and Mayapur, overnight accommodation is a
challenge.
• Cross border infiltration and earnings from illegal trades, have created
complex and greedy mindset among local people – tendency to dupe
outsiders.
Government Initiatives to promote Tourism
• Modernization of NH-34 to a Six Lane highway from Barasat to Siliguri across
Nadia – Land acquisition is going on.
• Promotion of Tourist Spots through Government portals like “banglar mukh”
and nadia.nic.in
• Conversion of Narrow Gauge rail line from Santipur to Nabadipdham --
Santipur to Krishnanagar operational, land acquisition issues near
Swarupgunj.
Future ………..
New Temple at Mayapur
Worlds largest temple “Vedic Planetarium”
is being constructed in Mayapur, and
would be opened in 2022.
10,000 Devotees will be able to offer their
prayer together in this Temple

Challenges and Barriers in Tourism Promotion • Though there are number of Roads and cities and towns are well connected – average conditions of the roads are bad, in some stretches they are pathetic. • All towns have good attraction for tourists, but apart from some budget hotels in Krishnanagar, and Mayapur, overnight accommodation is a challenge. • Cross border infiltration and earnings from illegal trades, have created complex and greedy mindset among local people – tendency to dupe outsiders.

Government Initiatives to promote Tourism • Modernization of NH-34 to a Six Lane highway from Barasat to Siliguri across Nadia – Land acquisition is going on. • Promotion of Tourist Spots through Government portals like “banglar mukh” and nadia.nic.in • Conversion of Narrow Gauge rail line from Santipur to Nabadipdham -- Santipur to Krishnanagar operational, land acquisition issues near Swarupgunj.
