5. Space exploration is the ongoing
discovery and exploration of celestial
structures in outer space
by means of continuously evolving
and growing space technology.
What is Space
Exploration ?
7. A Brief History
of Space
Exploration
In 1942 the German V2 was the first
rocket to reach 100km from the
Earth’s surface (the boundary of
space).
19421947
In 1947, the first animals were
launched into space. Fruit flies were
used to study the effects of space
travel on animals.
19571959
In 4th October 1957, Russia
launched the first satellite into
space; Sputnik 1, and the space age
had properly begun!
In 1959 The first spacecraft to reach
Moon was the Space-probe Luna 2
which crash-landed into the moon at
a speed that would kill an astronaut if
one had been travelling in it!
1966
In 1966 USA's first unmanned lander
landed safely on the surface of
moon.
1969
On 20th July 1969, Neil Armstrong,
and then Buzz Aldrin took "one
small step" and became the first
men on the moon.
1973
In 1973, Russian space probe Mars 2
explored Mars for the first time.
`
2014
India became the first country to
sussesfully reach the mars orbits in
its maiden trail
10. Yes it is
Annually the world spent around
$45 billion on space exploration.
It is an additional cost that the
taxpayer is burdened with.
Even if it's a small amount it is
still an amount that could be spent
elsewhere.
No it is not
Compared to other areas of
government spending , the cost of
space exploration isn't very high.
In 1990s US spent about
$100 billions on the Apollo
Moon Program.
This money could provide
● A year of health care for
1,65,000 people
OR
● Electricity for 8,30,000
homes
OR
● Build 2200 housing units

17. We need resouces from space
because of unsustainable use of the resources, the
resources present on earth would soon finish.
There's GOLD , silver, platinum and
other valuable substances out there
in the cosmos
The moon, for example, is a potentially
lucrative source of helium-3
18. Present mining and processing are
energy intensive and large quantity of
energy is difficult an expensive to
produce.
.
But there are barriers to such
operation which are:-
Terrestrial equipments are too heavy and
bulky to be transported.
Large and skilled labor crew would be
require.
20. We May Need to Colonize Space
to Survive
Our increasing
population, rampant greed
and thoughtlessness
about environmental
consequences have
already done pretty severe
damage to our planet.
According to a 2012
survey of research, most
scientists estimate that
Earth has a carrying
capacity of between 8
and 16 billion – and we
already have a
population of over 7
billion
23. WE NEED PROTECTION
FROM ASTEROIDS
If we don't want to go the way of the dinosaurs someday, we
need to protect ourselves against the threat of being hit by a big
asteroid.
According to NASA, typically about once every 10,000
years, a rocky or iron asteroid the size of a football field
could smash into our planet's surface.
24. What would happen if a big
NEO hits Earth ?
A sufficiently large impact by a near-Earth
objects (NEO) would cause :-
Massive tsunamis
Multiple firestorms
Impact winter caused by the sunlight
blocking effect
Massive impacts may also cause
volcanic mantle pluming at the antipodal
point
27. Humans need to fulfill
their urge to Explore
Our primitive ancestors spread from
east Africa to all over the planet, and
since then, we've never stopped
moving.
Human brain is desingned in such a way
that it always tent to explore, it always
want something new to be known.
We're running out of fresh territory on
Earth, so the only way to meet this
