2. Task 1
Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex, first
published in 1949, is a seminal work in
feminist philosophy and the starting point
of the second wave of feminism (alongside
Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique,
published in 1963 and heavily influenced
by de Beauvoir's previously published
text).
Although there have been two English
translations of the text, both have been
criticised in their style, syntax and
philosophical and syntactic integrity. The
Vintage Books edition is the most accurate
and recent translation to English language
of the original French text.
3. Task 1

2. Find an example of women representation in UK
newspapers that conforms with
the archetypal/traditional representation of the
social role of women as explained by Simone de
Beauvoir in this interview, and another example from
another media source (can be a film, a TV program, a
different newspaper, a magazine, etc.) that offers
a counter typical representation of women.
