IHSAN DAN TAQWA (DRAFT).pptx

  1. 1. Ihsan
  2. 2. Based on the verse Allah commands to do • Justice • Goodness or Kindness and give • to those who have kinship • and forbids from abominable deeds and evil • and iniquity • He taught you to understand.
  3. 3. Definition • Ihsan is one of the most important principles of Islam. The Qur’an has more than 66 verses on this subject. Actually the whole Qur’an guides to Ihsan, which means doing everything in an excellent manner and it also means doing the acts of charity and kindness.
  4. 4. Concept (1) That one makes deeds or morals and habits become good and perfect in one's own person; (2) That one deals with the other person nicely, decently and favorably.
  5. 5. Example • In prayers and in relation to Allah, feel His presence. • In relations to parents, honor them, be thankful to them and do your duties towards them. • In relations to other relatives, recognize their rights, be good to them and help them if they need help. • In relations to people in society who are weak, needy and poor, be charitable and nice to them. • In human relations in general, be good to others. Even those with whom you disagree in matters of faith, present to them the message, but have no aggression towards them: • but forgive them and overlook (their misdeeds): for Allah loves those who are kind. (Al-Ma’idah 5:13) • In relations to the whole world including plants, animals and even inanimate things, do not waste, do not misuse or abuse and be thankful to Allah. • Do no mischief on the earth, after it has been set in order, but call on Him with fear and longing (in your hearts): for the Mercy of Allah is (always) near to those who do good.(Al-A`raf 6:56) • The Prophet (SAW) said, “Allah has prescribed that you do everything in an excellent and nice manner.” (Muslim, Hadith No. 3615) 7. Finally, Just do good, because Allah loves those who do good things:
  6. 6. Taqwa
  7. 7. Story Time • A wise man had three sons. He had taught them that Allah is present everywhere. He wanted to see which of his children had learnt the lesson. He gave them each an apple. He said, ‘eat this apple in a place where no one can see you’. The eldest child took the apple to his room. He closed the door, drew the curtains. He was sure no one could see him, so he cut the apple and ate it. The second child also took the apple to his room, opened the cupboard, went inside, and closed the door behind him. He was sure no one could see him there, so he cut the apple and ate it. The youngest son went to his room, but he could not cut the apple. He knew Allah was there. He went to the forest, to the top of a mountain, near the river but he knew Allah was there, everywhere. He went home, gave the apple back to his father, and said there is no place where Allah does not see me. The father was happy that his youngest son had learnt the lesson.
  8. 8. Definition • In Islamic tradition, the consciousness of God is referred to as taqwa and is considered to be the most central ethical concept of the Qur’an occurring over 250 times in different forms. Pious, virtuous, righteous, God-fearing, God-wariness, etc. have all been used to define this concept. It is this very consciousness of the Almighty that unites all believers in their devotion and prayer. It is the constant feeling of the presence of God within that a believer finds his source of morality. It is taqwa that pushes a believer towards righteousness. And it is this cognizance of the Most Merciful that becomes a source of comfort in times of need.
  9. 9. Concept • The first is that believers fear Allah and obey Him by observing His commands and prohibitions. To be under the safekeeping of Allah, true religion and science should be combined, for they are two expressions of a single truth. According to Muslim scholars, the universe is "the Created Quran." where Allahs laws issuing from His Attributes of Will, Destiny, and Power are operative. The Quran, the collection of Divine laws issuing from Allahs Attributes of Speech, is "the composed universe" or "the universe in words." • The second aspect is that, by studying nature and life and discovering the laws of Allah that control them, people acquire scientific knowledge and order their lives. Science cannot be established if people do not discover these laws. The believers should not disobey their government without justifiable cause. Without a leader, a community is like a broken rosary whose beads have scattered everywhere. Such a situation of social and political conflict usually results in anarchy and destruction.
  10. 10. Example • You pray perfectly because of Allah • You donate sincerely • You leave alcohol because of Allah • You keep promises because of Allah • You work hardly for the family because of Allah
