2. One of the main pieces of technology that we
used in our production was the Apple Mac. This
was a new piece of equipment for us, as it was
used both for our preliminary and thriller
opening pieces. Although it was difficult to use
at first, however we ended up needing them to
research, edit and then to finally upload our
blogs- altogether an important piece of
equipment!
We were able to transfer our shots onto the
Mac to then edit, cut and then order them,
however they were sometimes problematic to
use as you had to ensure that you were able to
use the same computer as the work saved only
onto one.
Overall a highly important piece of technology.
3. Another piece of technology that we used
during our process was the tripod. This was a
basic piece of equipment used to help make the
shot steady and to give it a more professional
approach. This was a handy tool to have, as we
were able to incorporate it both into our
research and into our final shooting.
On occasions it was fiddly to use as you had to
understand how to tighten and loosen the stand
at have it at the right angle to shoot correctly.
One example of us using the tripod in our final
piece was to shoot the close up of Michael’s
face as he looks into the computer on
Facebook.
4. Another one of the main pieces of technology
that we used in our production was the Canon
650. This too was a new and vital piece of
equipment for our thriller opening, as without
this, the filming would not have been possible.
We did have occasional issues with using the
camera as there was one function on it which
allowed the camera to automatically zoom in,
however, we did not understand how this
worked initially and as a result, as we shot the
scene the video was fuzzy.
However, we managed to learn and overcome
this obstacle and therefore the camera went on
to be possibly the most important piece of
equipment for filming our thriller opening.
5. Another important piece of equipment used for
our project was the Flip camera. We didn’t use
this for our main thriller opening, instead for
our preliminary task. This was an easy piece of
equipment to use as to use as it just required
you to turn it on and then press record.
However one downside of this piece of
equipment was that the quality of the picture
was not great. They are only cheaper, low
quality cameras which are used to get the job
done.
These were not used at all in our final project,
but they were only used to shoot our
preliminary task.
6. Garage band was one piece of technology that
we used, or rather, a program that we used to
help aid us along the way. We used Garage
band mainly for our two podcasts, one to voice
our initial ideas and the other was to evaluate
our final piece and recognise which aspects
were successful and which were unsuccessful.
Garage band was not an extremely difficult
program to use as we had all come across it in
younger years, however, this was the first time
that we had made a podcast. This was fairly
simple to do once the program had been set up
and we had noted down ideas about what to
say. All in all it was a successful piece of
technology which helped us greatly as being
another medium to which we could present our
ideas.
7. Another vital piece of technology that we used
was Imovie. This was in fact a program that
helped to aid us in putting together our movie.
Once we had filmed the clips and then
transferred them onto the computer, they then
went onto this program to be cut, edited and
then finalised. This was a tricky piece of
software to use and required much time and
effort to prefect. However the outcome was
extremely impressive and using Imovie
benefitted us greatly.
8. The final piece of software that we used
throughout the process was Blogger. This was
the website and medium that we used to
produce our entire blog on. Blogger was simple
to use as you just had to sign up using a Google
account and posting wasn’t too tricky.
However, sometimes the layout of the page
when posting was tricky to manoeuvre as
pictures jumped around text and the layout
sometimes came out wonky but overall it was a
successful piece of software, and therefore
technology to use.
