- 8. Characteristics of the letter? • Very personal – lots of 1st person pronouns • Nothing mentioned about church problems • Generous – several gifts sent to Paul – partners • Rejoice and joy
- 9. • What Circumstances are you facing? Do they stop the gospel going forth?
- 10. • Do you have envy/jealousy in your heart?
- 11. • How strongly does the world influence you day by day? How are your relationships?
- 12. • Do we allow the things we value to influence how we live for Christ? Work status? Family? Finances? Possessions? Comforts?
- 13. • Press on towards the goal of knowing Christ

- Want to bring some context to everything that’s been shared the past weeks Why was Paul writing this letter and including the points we’ve spoken on?
- Where is Philippi
- Keeping within Scripture where is this church mentioned? Acts 16:12-end and one verse in Acts 20 Letter itself
- Check out the way Paul esteems them through his contrast in verses 1, 2 – servants/slaves v’s “God’s holy people” So why is this important when considering what has been shared these past weeks?
- Paul’s in prison (probably in Rome). Church birthed out of a miracle in Philippi prison – Paul not seeing that this time What did we learn the other week? The gospel being proclaimed is not hindered by our circumstances BUT should be proclaimed regardless of them.
- How do you feel when other ministries pop up and see fruit on your turf? Rejoice that the gospel is going forth regardless of how it’s done
- Let’s consider our own hearts. Have we compromised the truth? Do we allow issues to separate us from others instead of working at resolving them? Conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel Stand firm in one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith
- The same mindset as Christ: Humbled Himself – disregarded His status Obedient to the point of death = FOR US
- This needs to be our response!!!!!!!!!!!
