3. History
Halton
• 1919-1993
• First No.1 school of technical training
• Lord Trenchard introduced the first aircraft apprentice
scheme
Cosford
• 1993-Present
4. Training
Phase 2
• Training at Cosford for 6 months
• 18 months posting to a UK base
• Followed by a return to Cosford for Further training
• Completion of aeronautical engineering apprenticeship level 3.
• Leave FT at Cosford as a Technician
• Phase 3
5. Roles and responsibilities
Roles
• Our main role is to be a “warfighter” and act as a force of good.
• Trade role
Trade Role Responsibilities
• Diagnosing and repairing more serious faults.
• Carrying out complex maintenance tasks on any aircrafts moving parts
(mechanical) or electrical (avionics).
Promotion
• Complete phase 3 training to gain more leadership and management
roles.
• Increased knowledge of trade through additional courses
