Engineering Certification Queensland is vital to the success of a product. The certification of a product assures the quality and longevity of its operation against the reputation of the certifier, and highlights the validity of the provider. Certification also offers accountability, reliability, and a competitive advantage to the owner of the product or service. Certification standards are set by independent agencies, such as Australian Standards. These standards are checked and governed by separate local and national testing agencies, to avoid a conflict of interest. Engineering Certification Queensland
1. RPEQ CERTIFICATION
QUEENSLAND
To best understand the need for RPEQ Certification
and its relationship to Australian Standards
compliance, a basic understanding of the
legislative rules and regulations is required. These
rules vary slightly from state to state, on-shore to
offshore and can also be effected depending on the
type of site or lease (Petroleum, Gas, Mining or
building). However, there is a common idea of
ensuring the safety of plant and who’s liable for
that responsibility.
RPEQ supervision is required when plant is
manufactured or modified in Queensland or
specifically for Queensland. The inspection and
assessment for continued safe use of various items
of plant will also fall under the ‘professional
engineering services’ and most commonly applied
to major inspection periods on cranes and
amusement rides. Proof of RPEQ supervision is
most effectively achieved through independent
engineering assessment and issue of a RPEQ
Certificate.
2. RPEQ CERTIFICATION QUEENSLAND
The following is a list of regulations and key items of plant and equipment that is
commonly assessed:
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland Regulation.
High risk plant – verification and registration of:
- Elevating work platforms,
- Cranes,
- Car hoists,
- Lifts,
- Pressure Vessels, &
- Amusement devices (fun park rides).
Other high risk equipment – codes of practice and recommendations.
- Roll over protective structures,
- Falling object protective structures,
- Fall from heights & Confined spaces,
- Fork lifts,
- Machine & plant safety
- Excavator quick hitches, &
- Lifting gear.
3. PRACTICAL
ENGINEERING
QUEENSLAND
Practical engineering allows a design to be placed in the context of an industry –
rather than designing a product in a vacuum to mathematical specifications,
practical knowledge of the industry and its components can allow for a more
practical design and integration. Industry connections allow a project to be
assimilated more quickly, and conversely, practical knowledge of the industry can
start a practical engineering project several steps ahead of a theoretical project.
FCE is a professional engineering consultancy that delivers
innovative and efficient solutions to its clients. IFCE works
locally, nationally and internationally across a number of
industry sectors, for companies large and small.
4. ENGINEERING
CERTIFICATION
QUEENSLAND
Certification also offers a competitive advantage over uncertified products.
Customers look for the product with the most quality assurance. Testing and
approval from an internationally recognized certification standard carries with it the
highest vote of confidence possible in a product.
By certifying a product, the provider is displaying confidence in the product to the
customer.
It is for the above reasons engineering certification is considered most important.
