INTRODUCTION
TEST ADMINISTRATION PROCEDURES ARE DEVELOPED FOR AN EXAM
PROGRAM IN ORDER TO HELP REDUCE MEASUREMENT ERROR AND TO
INCREASE THE LIKELIHOOD OF FAIR, VALID, AND RELIABLE
ASSESSMENT. SPECIFICALLY, APPROPRIATE STANDARDIZED
PROCEDURES IMPROVE MEASUREMENT BY INCREASING
CONSISTENCY AND TEST SECURITY.
Importance of Test Administration
 Fairness
This ensures that the test results accurately reflect the test taker's abilities and not
their external factors
 Validity
This means that the test accurately measures what it is intended to measure.
 Reliability
Reliability means that the test scores consistently measure the test taker's abilities,
regardless of the test taker, the testing environment
 Security
Proper test administration helps ensure that test materials are kept secure and
confidential
 Standardization
meaning that every test taker is evaluated using the same procedures and
criteria, reducing the risk of errors
Preparing for Test Administration
 Choose appropriate test
 Set goals
 Determine testing accommodations
 Ensure testing materials are available
 Set up the testing environment
Administering The Test
 Provide clear and concise instructions
 Monitor test-takers
 Manage time effectively
 Address any issues that arise
Scoring the Test
 Establish a scoring rubric
 Score the test accurately and consistently
 Check for errors
 Review the results with colleagues or other professionals
Analyzing Test Results
 Look for patterns and trends
 Identify strengths and weaknesses
 Consider the implications of the results
