his seven-year tenure as Vice-Chairman, Mr Maucher has made 3 Subject to re-election at the

on 30 May 1997

who, since 1979, has brought his wealth of experience to bear,

the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse, and, from 1993, as
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank Leu and Member of
the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse Group. Mr Schneider
has reached the age limit for the chairmanship of Bank Leu
and will therefore also not be standing for re-election at Credit
Suisse Group.
Finally, we would also like to thank Gianfranco Cotti, to
whom we are much indebted for his services as a Member
of the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse Group and as
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swiss Volksbank. As
Mr Cotti has reached the relevant age limit, the chairmanship of
Credit Suisse was assumed by Rainer E. Gut in March of this
year. As part of the reorganisation of the Boards of Directors,
Mr Cotti will now concentrate on his mandate as a Member of
the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse.
