The results of a pre-session feedback has been presented in these slides. The author was allotted the topic :CM5.2-Anthropometric measurement and dietary assessment as field activity for the 2nd Year Professional Course for MBBS students under the new NMC curriculum 2021. The author has made this presentation to enable novice teachers in medical education to understand how to proceed with a competency development for nutritional assessment. Faculty has to make sure that the students have the basic concept, principles, knowledge and skills before taking them for field activity and direct interaction with community. The results clearly show that majority of the students do not have the required competency for conducting community nutrition assessment. Faculty has to assess the progression of students from Knows, Knows how, Shows how before sending them for community based activities. CBME curriculum provides both student and faculty the flexibility of time and choice of teaching learning and assessment activities appropriate for the situation. Teachers can modify their per-session assessments/feedback as per their institutional curriculum implementation plan. The institutional curriculum committee has to play a big role in the implementation of the new curriculum and should provide faculty the necessary support for smooth implementation.
