3. Introduction
Radar bullet is a relatively new discovery used
specially for detection of land mines. And this was
very important invention it was invented in US. Radar
bullets specially designed and use for detection of
mines without setting foot into ground.
4. Landmine:
It is an explosive devise
These are mostly laid on just below the surface of the
ground
5. Radar bullet:
It is a special type of bullet.
This consists of firing a special bullet into the ground.
Its images gets available on the computer in the
helicopter.
6. Radar principle:
Radar is radio detection and ranging
It operates by transmitting EM energy in to the
surroundings
7. Working:
Bullet is fired downward in to the ground
The bullet in designed in such a way that it gives out powerful
blast of radio waves from under the ground. The bullet will
produce a pulse of radio waves as it touches the ground and
signal is reflected from any landmines within about a 15 meter
radius will be detected by an antenna on the helicopter.
8. Advantages:
Uses low power consumption.
Uses low transmitting power.
Small in size and simple structure.
9. Disadvantages:
It is not capable to indicating the range of the target.
Range discrimination can be achieved only by
introducing very costly complex circuitry.
Several targets at a given bearing tend to cause
confusion.
10. Applications:
It can be used to detect landmines.
It can be used to detect buried and illegal pipelines .
Mostly used in defence for the nation security.
11. Conclusion:
The research on radar bullet were headed
by the electrical engineers. This can be used not only
for detecting antipersonnel mines ,but also for detecting
anti-vehicle mines as well as for the mines used in sea for
targeting the ship and submarines.
