device, is a mobile electronic device that is designed
primarily for the purpose of reading digital e-
books and periodicals
Easy to read & bright in sunlight also
Better readability
Longer battery life

4. Comparison- Text books & e-books
e-book readers are more fragile & susceptible to
physical damage
e-books can malfunction & can be damaged due to
faulty hardware or software
e-books are more likely to be stolen
 e- book reading in bright sunlight is difficult
depending on the device used
 e- book not produced by all publishers
e-books can be hacked by the use of hardware or
software and widely disseminated
on the internet -Piracy is a drawback for the publisher

 Loss or theft lead to loss of many books
In the device –Back up is essential
 Screen resolution is low
 Loss of tactility and aesthetics of binding
 Digital right management- reselling or lending out
is not good
 All devices do not nave capacity to support the
format
 Books are readable for ages less durable
electronic device – backup is a must
 Environmentally hazardous materials are used to
make e-book enabling devices
