• She started the friendly rent collection as
squatter's resident improvement. Her principle
and functions were to:
- make volunteers to follow principle and law
through weekly meeting and letter of coworkers.
- emphasis that every problem and issue to be
individualization.
- everyone’s need should be met respectfully for
his privacy and freedom.
- Worker should not judge clients by their
individual standards.
- value integrity of extremely needy and helpless
people.

Samuel Augustus Burnet
• He was the founder of Toynbee Hall, first
branch of slum area and its aims were:
- Improving the life situation of slum area by
wealthy students of Oxford
- To bring the educated people in contact with
poor people and create reciprocal benefit
- They focused more on living with poor people
to understand the cause and situation of
poverty closely.
