Agility—Multi Directional Speed
Y Drill
Set out a Y shaped area. 5m from start to middle cone, 5m to left and right cones at a 45
degree angle.
The athlete sprints towards the middle cone and makes a decision to move left or right as they
hit the cone, changing direction and accelerating to the respective cone of the Y.

Visual Coaching Points / What To Look For:
Start:
Body angle of 45 degrees
Strong core
Quick knee drive
Short, sharp strides
Middle cone:
Open up the hip joint by pointing the
toes of the lead leg in the direction you
want to go
Load the lead leg to drive off
Stay low in the turn
Create body angle to reaccelerate
Middle to End:
Drive the knee forwards and up
Pull toes up towards the shin
Drive the foot in to the floor
