EXPERIENCE RECORD
Dec 2013 – Present Western Australia Police – Coordinator (Corporate Knowledge)
Coordinator responsible for the maintenance, quality control, publication and distribution of the Western
Australia Police Manual. The document is used by all police members in the daily application of policy
and procedures required to conduct normal policing business. The manual is published as an on-line
document, and additional responsibilities include:
Maintenance and management of intranet website
Electronic Document Management
Quality control of all submitted policies
Projects to develop processes, gap analysis tasks and reporting schedules
Point of contact for all police state wide with regards policy production and submission.
Also acted as the Executive Manager, Legal Services for Western Australia for six months. This position
included providing legal advice to police departments and other state government departments, liaison
with State Solicitors Office, the Attorney General’s Office and Commonwealth Director of Public
Prosecutions and also included management of all department staff.
2. Feb 2012 – Dec 2013 British Telecom Plc. – Programme Management Office
Responsible for the management of the quality and document work stream for a major IT program
(A$100m), delivering a state of the art IT Information Communications Technology solution for the Fiona
Stanley Hospital, Western Australia. Current responsibilities include:

Employed within the Programme Management Office (PMO) as a Project Officer in a highly sensitive
government department. Responsibilities included:

A large part of this role was liaison between different branches of the business. As well as the normal

Feb 2010 – April 2011 Global RadioData Communications (GRC) – Project Manager
Project Manager for a critical defence program which was being delivered to the British Ministry of
Defence (MoD). The duties were varied and challenging and centred on delivering a technical radio
(wireless) solution for a major MoD Force Protection program, whilst also controlling the retro-fit
options for phase 1 of the program. The major responsibilities were:

Document production, verification, storage and delivery to various clients under strict
guidelines

2008 – Feb 2010 WS Atkins British Government Confidential Client – Project Support Officer
Working as a security cleared Project Support Officer within a very sensitive government department.
Responsibilities included:
Assistance with whole life project management
Preparation and maintenance of all control documents, including ensuring the safe transmittal of
products to various clients under strict guidelines
Management of risks and issues
Program planning (Primavera 6)
Training of junior project managers in the safe handling and use of documents.
This very varied role saw me employed as the Project Support Officer across a number of work streams
within the main branch program. This was a very difficult role as it involved liaison between departments
and other customers who didn’t hold the relevant security clearances. A customer facing role which
greatly increased my ability to communicate accurately and succinctly.
2008 – 2008 Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust (PCT) - Business Analyst
Employed to identify different service requirements for a £700,000 IT rollout program for use by the
Gloucestershire PCT. The role involved continuous client liaison and report production to aid
requirements capture and program direction. Daily responsibilities included:
Identification and documentation of local working practices
Identification of customer requirements
Report writing to determine customer requirements
Control and storage of all sensitive materials and documents
Production of internal program training materials
Presentation to board members to determine funding and strategic direction.
Other responsibilities included identification of areas required for teaching, initial teaching phase and
requirements delivery to main teaching team. Ultimately this program changed Britain’s attitude to
medical reporting.
2006 - 2008 Control Risks (Iraq) – Watchkeeper
I was employed within an extremely sensitive and challenging environment, providing
telecommunications cover and advice to British embassy staff. The role was extremely varied and
mainly consisted of the following duties:
Management of telecommunications services throughout the embassy theatre of operations
Support to the embassy technical division
Instruction of specialist technical equipment’s to members of staff
Liaison between embassy staff and program security teams
Producing time critical reports to enable embassy staff to gain an appreciation of current events.
The main challenge in this role was the unique operating environment. Due to the security situation all
tasks had to be managed under very tight deadlines and with the most rigorous attention to detail.
4. 2005 - 2006 ArmorGroup – (Iraq (Bechtel)/Afghanistan (British Embassy) – Watchkeeper
Provision of telecommunications support in two very different geographical locations. Both locations
required an extremely high level of professionalism as the operating requirements in both theatres
differed and therefore required a different approach when providing advice and support to the embassy
staff. Reporting directly to the senior program manager, duties included:
Management of telecommunications services
Liaison between embassy staff and local nationals
Instruction of technical equipment’s to members of staff
Producing time critical reports to enable embassy staff to gain an appreciation of current events.
The ability to adapt to local conditions and extremely stressful situations was an experience that I was
able to use to my advantage in this and future roles.
2004 – 2005 General Dynamics- Production Engineer
This role was responsible for the provision of the BOWMAN Digital Voice and Data telecommunications
system into various military platforms. Reporting directly to the Production Engineering Manager,
responsibilities included;
Production of all engineering documentation, including photographic sets and diagrams
Detailed capture of all client requirements
Installation team manager
Instruction of vehicle system to a wide stakeholder group
Control of all documentation produced and submitted to client.
This was the biggest telecommunications program undertaken by the MoD in the modern British armed
forces. The integrated system has allowed the British Army to adapt to a complex and changing
battlefield and enabled it to remain an effective and modern army.
2003 – 2004 BT Syntegra – Requirements Capture Manager
This role was to provide requirements capture management for a sensitive government department who
were moving into a new office complex. A highly technical and complex role, duties included:
Documenting customer requirements and presenting the movement plan to the program board
Recording of all client equipment’s in program unique documentation
Configuration of all client sensitive electronic equipment’s
Program liaison and recommissioning of client electronic systems.
This government client had to remain operational throughout the entire decommissioning and
recommissioning process and this was achieved by excellent client relationships and top class planning.
2001 – 2003 Network Design Engineer (ADC)
As a network designer I was delivering fixed network telecommunications services within Energis
portfolio of services. Responsibilities included:
Production of design and site maintenance documents
Control of order between client engineering and access engineering
Monitoring of network capacity
Maintaining records of installations at client sites
Provisioning of telecommunications onto fixed network.
This role was very client oriented and ensured that I built up a very professional manner when dealing
with clients.
5. Jan 1988 – Dec 2000 British Armed Forces
Member of the telecommunications branch of the British Army. Roles included specialist intelligence
collection, electronic support to Bomb Disposal teams and intelligence analyst. Achieved the full time
rank of Corporal. Served four counter terrorist operational tours and three peace keeping tours in
overseas operational theatres.
