The Evolution Of A CV

Yes, we can what?
Are any of of us truly in
control of what it is that
we can?
Case Study
My daughter’s dog , Lenny,
on his way out
My Car
He has to leave by car

Lenny can’t walk through
the invisible fence to leave,
but for some reason he will

After his walk

Creating Your Own Limitations
Is this you?
Understand your
customer…
Find out what unmet
needs they have that you
can supply…
Then work up the value
chain from there.
THIS IS WHY THE CV IS IMPORTANT
Developing your post graduation employment strategy
Reverse Engineer Your Future
Where Do You
Want To Get To?
What is the next
to last place
before your
destination?
What is the
place before
that?
Repeat until you get to where you are right now!
Write it down!
Put Another Way
What
should your
focus be?
Focus on 1st
Impression
Remember: First impressions are best impressions. And you
only have one opportunity to make a first impression!
What do
they see 1st?
Background

Then comes LinkedIn. And then
Facebook and social media!
Then
Interview!
Not to get the job! But to win the opportunity of an interview.

Professional Experience
The Transition Project, Australian Institute of Innovative Materials, University of Wollongong
Researcher (2012-present)
The Transition Project is an initiative designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry. As a researcher I
engage in dialogue with CEO‟s from various Hi-Tech Australian companies to gain insight into their views on
university output, among other things. The outcomes of The Transition Project aim to encourage both parties to identify
and take action to facilitate collaboration and build foundations to transfer research concepts to end user products.

PERSONAL
STATEMENT
My goal is to further my knowledge by applying myself to the area of energy delivery technologies-
especially those driven by renewable resources.
With 4 years of research experience in energy conversion techniques and energy efficient
materials, I would like to join a team where I can apply my skills and knowledge to effect positive
change to business and industry in energy management.
I am driven, hardworking and complete projects to an excellent standard, on time and to budget.
I possess strong communication, time management and organizational skills and I thrive in an
enthusiastic team environment both as a team member or a leader.
EDUCATION I completed my initial education and university degree in India and then relocated to Australia in
2008 in order to pursue a PhD. With an undergraduate and a Masters Degree in Physics and a PhD
in Materials Engineering, I hold a strong science and technology background.
During my PhD studies, and in parallel, I undertook a Graduate Certificate Course in Business
Administration to better understand how knowledge, technology and businesses can be bridged. I
have now developed an understanding of how skills and scientific knowledge can be effectively
and productively put to the benefit of an organization.

PERSONAL

CV Priyanka Jood ISEM/ AIIM Facility, Innovation Campus, Squires Way, North Wollongong, NSW 2500, Australia T: [+61-0-430044892] E: [joodpriyanka@gmail.com, pj991@uowmail.edu.au] Nationality: Indian, Sex: Female PERSONAL STATEMENT My goal is to further my knowledge by applying myself to the area of energy delivery technologies- especially those driven by renewable resources. With 4 years of research experience in energy conversion techniques and energy efficient materials, I would like to join a team where I can apply my skills and knowledge to effect positive change to business and industry in energy management. I am driven, hardworking and complete projects to an excellent standard, on time and to budget. I possess strong communication, time management and organizational skills and I thrive in an enthusiastic team environment both as a team member or a leader. EDUCATION I completed my initial education and university degree in India and then relocated to Australia in 2008 in order to pursue a PhD. With an undergraduate and a Masters Degree in Physics and a PhD in Materials Engineering, I hold a strong science and technology background. During my PhD studies, and in parallel, I undertook a Graduate Certificate Course in Business Administration to better understand how knowledge, technology and businesses can be bridged. I have now developed an understanding of how skills and scientific knowledge can be effectively and productively put to the benefit of an organization. Ph.D. Materials Engineering Institute for Superconducting and Electronic Materials (ISEM), University of Wollongong, NSW, Australia [2008-2012: thesis under review] Relevant Experience: · Studied the thermoelectric properties and its correlation with structural parameters, cationic ratio, morphology and microstructure of cobalt based thermoelectric oxides. · Worked towards improving the high temperature thermoelectric properties of bulk ZnO ceramic through various approaches. · Pulsed Laser Deposited (PLD) thin films of p-type Cobaltites for heat harvesting applications · Device Fabrication Graduate Certificate in Business Administration Sydney Business School University of Wollongong, NSW, Australia [2011] Courses Undertaken: Marketing, Accounting for Managers, Managing People in Organization, and International Business Strategies. 2 M.Sc. Physics Banasthali University, Rajasthan, India [2005-2007] Courses Undertaken: Atomic & Molecular Physics, Advanced Electrodynamics, Laser Physics, Solid State Physics and Electronic Devices, Elementary Particle Physics, Fiber Optics, Computer Programming, Microwave and Digital Electronics, Statistical and Thermodynamical Physics. B.Sc. Physics Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, India [2002-2005] ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE Visiting scholar, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY, USA [Sep 2009-Sep2010] Over a period of one year, working under Prof Ganpati Ramanath, I developed a strong understanding of the disciplines in research developments and activities that show how research teams function optimally. · Nanostructured Oxides for applications in electronics and energy.
