PechaKucha started in Tokyo in 2003 as a
way for young designers to meet, network
and show their work in public.

PechaKucha is the Japanese term used to
describe the sound of “chit chat”.
An idea created by Astrid Klein and Mark
Dytham of Klein Dytham architecture.

• PechaKucha Nights = PKN is a non-profit
event held 4 times a year
• PKN has a unique concept and
presentation format: 20x20
6. The 20x20 Format
• 20 slides x 20 seconds per slide
• Keeps the presentations concise and
interesting
7. Who can present?
• Anyone!
• Showcase a creative project or hobby
• Pictures from a holiday, music,
graphic designs, floral arrangements,
sculptures, etc

• 8 presentations a night
• Audience of a 1000 people
• Food and drinks available
• Location will change each time
• Opportunity for you to network and
socialise

• Compile a presentation of your work in 20
slides together with a commentary of 20

• Not a competition but a way to ensure
there is a good mix of presentations on a
night
