• Startup: University and student leaders decide to start a group.

• Ongoing: Student leaders run one (or more) meeting per semester, with as much

goodies, and even helps with content.

Key Messages People are more connected than ever before In the Fourth Industrial Revolution, businesses must be just as smart, always-on, and as connected as consumers are Talk Track Because, in this Fourth Industrial Revolution, every customer is connected. We are connected not just with each other, but with the companies who provide us services across every industry [tell a personal story of a connected device/experience or share a customer story]. For example: Marriott has over 110M guests in their loyalty programs. They can view and act on millions of guest preferences across 30 unique brands in 130 countries & territories. Kone moves over 1B people each day on their escalators and elevators. They can anticipate service needs and provide alternatives for a seamless consumer experience. Customers expect your business to be just as smart, anticipatory, and connected as they are. Transition But behind all the technology....is a customer. And at the heart of all this transformation is the Customer Success Platform.
  4. Talk Track With all of these connected devices, customers are creating more data than ever before. Unfortunately, most businesses don't take advantage of this insight. On average, less than 1% of this data is being used, meaning that companies aren't connected to their customers. This is what we call the Customer Gap.   8. Key Message There are many different kinds of jobs that require Salesforce skills Not all jobs are technical Talk Track What kind of jobs are these? Salesforce worked with Burning Glass, a labor market analytics firm, to break this demand down further and found that these roles span both technical and business roles--they include roles like Business Analyst, and Marketing Manager or Salesforce Administrator. The common thread is that all of these roles require some proficiency with Salesforce technology as part of the skill set. Using Burning Glass data Salesforce put together a resource for students and job seekers to learn about these different roles and I’ve provided a link here if you want to check it out.
  9. Key Message Adding Salesforce skills to your degree program will help prepare you for a job in the Salesforce Ecosystem. Talk Track Because the demand for Salesforce skills is so high, employers find it challenging to people with the skills they need--and those needs are a bit of a moving target. Today 8 out of 10 companies struggle to find talent with the skills they need, or train their existing workforce fast enough. And 7 out of 10 employers feel that college grads are not graduating with the skills they need.
  10. Key Message Trailhead is the fun way to learn Salesforce Gain hands-on, real-world experience Talk Track 4 years ago Salesforce created Trailhead. The vision was to create a platform where anyone could skill up and learn these in-demand skills to grow their career--regardless of race, socio-economic background, experience, etc. Trailhead is free, you don’t need to a Salesforce customer to use it, all you need is an internet connection and you can learn whether you are a student, or a career -changer or working professional. What’s unique about Trailhead is that learners can get hands on with the technology and apply practice the skills they are learning. And, as they learn they badges and skill-based credentials that demonstrate their proficiency with these skills. Since Salesforce launched Trailhead they’ve really expanded the learning content that’s available so now it’s not just technical content, but all a lot of soft-skill and business skill content as well.
  11. T Key Message Your Trailhead profile provides employers with a view of your Salesforce skills, backed by the Trailhead badges the you’ve earned. Trailhead provides a custom URL, similar to LinkedIn, that you can add to your resume. Talk Track As you learn Salesforce skills, these proficiencies show up on your Trailhead profile. You can create your own custom URL and share that with employers and recruiters. Not only can employers see all of your learning and credentials, but the can also get a visual snapshot of your skills and your unique skill profile with the skills-graph view.
  12. Key Message Trailhead is the free, fun way to learn Salesforce, and there are millions of Trailblazers around the world learning and sharing. Talk Track Later in this session, we’ll do a hands-on activity where you will create your own Trailhead account. We’ll also log into the Trailblazer Community and discover how you can build your network and engage with millions of Trailblazers.

Key Message Student Groups are part of the Trailblazer Community, there are over 800 Community Groups around the world Talk Track The Student Groups program started off in fall of 2017 with a pilot of 10 schools. A year later, there are now 50 groups and counting! The program leverages much of the existing infrastructure provided by the Trailblazer Community Team. Onboarding, reimbursements, swag, access to exclusive opportunites. The program has seen students blaze their trails into the Salesforce ecosystem via internships and full time jobs. And in observing this in action, the Trailblazer Community Team recognized how important the Trailblazer community is in helping students reach their goals. That’s why when a Student Group starts, the team tries to connect them to a local Community Group as well.
  15. Key message Any student or faculty member can lead a student group You don’t need to be an expert, just someone who’s passionate about learning and helping others to learn You don’t need to be an expert or even know Salesforce to lead a student group. What’s important is your passion for learning and building your network, and your willingness to enable others to learn, too. In the short time that Student Groups has been around, students are already reaping the benefits, gaining internships and full time jobs as a result of their connections with the Trailblazer Community and their Salesforce skills.
  16. Key Message Students are new to Salesforce, and need a little extra help building their skills and their network The Trailblazer Community is that network. Talk Track A student group’s mission is different from a traditional community group. While many Salesforce professionals live and breathe Salesforce, and know how to leverage the Trailblazer Community to find answers and make connections, Students are brand new to this. The end goal of a Student Group is to skill up students so that they can be job-ready when they graduate. Learning skills isn’t enough. They also need to learn from professionals in our ecosystem who’ve blazed this trail before them. They need to build their professional network because 35% of hires come from a personal recommendation. Our ecosystem is full of people like me, who want to help students blaze their trail by learning the skills they need, connecting with professionals in your area for mentorship, asking questions, and building your network.
  17. Key Message It’s easy to get started. Student leaders get access to resources to run their group One official meeting per semester/term is required to stay “active” Talk Track: Here’s how the program works. After this class, if you’re interested in signing up to lead a group here at your school, then go to the URL on the screen and complete the form. All students who want to lead will complete the form. No more than 6 leaders per group. You’ll go through an initial startup exercise to gain access to the tools and resources you need to run your group. Then you’re off! Host your meetings, one or more per term.
  18. Key Message Salesforce helps with budget, swag, guidance, and helps connect you to a community of speakers and mentors Talk Track Here’s the type of support you can expect for your group. Just like the community groups, Salesforce provides swag and budget for your events. The Trailblazer Community is your place to find speakers and mentors, and to find networking opportunities.
  19. Now that you know what Salesforce is, and how to learn, and how the Trailblazer Community can help you build your skills and network, it’s time to get hands-on with Trailhead.
  20. Let’s gets started by signing up for Trailhead. If you already have a Trailhead account, then log in with your credentials. If you don’t, then go to developer.salesforce.com/signup and create your free Trailhead account. Once created, log in.
  21. Now that you have access to Trailhead, take a look around and see all of the different options. Open up a module and see how it works. Trailhead walks you through how to accomplish goals and ensures that you understand the materials by providing a quiz. By taking the quiz you earn badges and points. Projects are hands-on lessons where you get to make changes in your own personal instance of Salesforce (your playground). This is a safe environment for you to get hands-on with Salesforce. Superbadges help to prepare you for certifications.
  22. The Trailblazer community is the central hub for the entire Salesforce Ohana. Ohana is the Hawaiian word for family, and everyone in the Salesforce ecosystem is family. The Trailblazer community is a place where people can connect, ask questions, answer questions, post articles, engage with other people who are passionate about Salesforce and the community. It’s your source for mentors and building your network. People are excited to help empower the next generation of Trailblazers. That’s you! So tap into it. Leverage it.
  23. An easy way to find a group is to select “Featured Groups”. Groups are organized by region. Select your region and browse the groups available. You can join any group you’d like. We recommend you join any Community Groups in your area, as the people in those groups will become your network.
  24. In some cases you’ll need to request to join a group. The group leader will approve your request, usually within a few days. Then you’re welcome to post questions in the group. Make requests, such as for mentors or speakers. Invite group members to your own events. Ask for career advice. The Trailblazer Community is here to help you!
