1. The client planned to open an office in Suzhou, China quickly,
and with primarily newly hired people and several existing
employees living in other cities in China and the United States.
All 52 employees and families would require household goods
moving services.
THE CHALLENGE
29 Calendar days prior to the move, the client had its workforce hired, and notified Graebel Move
Management about the group move.
THE SOLUTION
The in-region Move Management APAC team in the Singapore business center developed a strategy
immediately. One project leader (Move Management international operations manager) and three
household goods coordinators were dedicated to manage the project. From its vetted network
supply chain of movers, air and ocean partners, the team sourced the finest local movers from each
market. Although preferred contracted rates were in place, the Move Management team took the
extra step to negotiate lower group move volume pricing with its suppliers with the additional
savings directly passed through to the client. Ultimately, four moving agencies were selected to
support the group move. Extensive planning, collaboration and frequent daily communications
took place between Move Management and each of the selected suppliers to ensure on-time
performance and service excellence.
Personalized pre-move consultations were conducted with the client’s employees by the Move
Management project leader, and in tandem with the selected relocation service provider’s
representative. Expectations were set with each employee and moving dates were finalized.
